It’s also possible for a young team that has developed culture and chemistry that is shown in across the board buy-in to make a swing for the fences, all chips in the middle of the table, all in deal only to see it back fire.
You of course have the discussion but you also gather data on what you have.
I agree for this trade needs but teams like Brooklyn and Utah will demand an arm & leg for that trade, propably a smaller trade for a player like malik monk will be more likely to happen.
Beef Stew is not worth discussing he’s the backbone of the defense
Defense wins games
Stewart is the second most important player on this team outside of Cade. If no player retires a Piston, Stewart will.
All of those things you like about the Pistons physicality, toughness, effort, and defense start with Isaiah Stewart. That's where the line is, IMO. I'm certainly open to making deals, but if you're swapping in a score-first forward that doesn't give much on defense and sending out one of the defensive anchors in Stewart or Ausar, that Pistons identity goes with it. You've now got a new identity. You're trying to beat other teams at their game rather than your own, when your own is working pretty well, at the moment. Albeit, there are obviously flaws.
That said, if you can get the right fitting piece without moving Cade/Ausar/Duren/Stewart (and maybe Holland, depending on how he's being valued in a deal), of course you make the move. I just don't think you empty the war chest in basically year 1 unless the fit is truly perfect and you're extremely confident the team is complete and can really challenge OKC. We've seen that not go so well in NY and also in Orlando. Once you've made the all-in move, it's hard to put the toothpaste back in the tube.
A move more along the lines of the Schroder deal, that doesn't cost a lot seems a whole lot more likely. I'm just not sold on the asking prices of MPJ, Lauri, and Trey.
The pistons are only good because they have elite defensive players. If they trade for a big name they will lose at least one or more of those defensive players. If they can get a big name without losing Stewart, Thompson, Duren, or Holiday, I think a trade is worth it. If they lose Ivey and some picks, I'm all for it.
Stew won’t get moved unless they start this process over. Ausar or Ron would get moved before Stewart. He’s too important to this team, and his contract keeps him cheap for Detroit.
“All the things I love about this Pistons team is what Beef Stew provides so I think they should trade him” 😐🍅🍅🍅🍅
We aren't moving Stew man its non negotiable
He uses OKC last year as his example on why Detroit should make a big trade😂😂😂😂
Detroit is #1 blocks & #1 steals.
Defense, chemistry, wins championship too.
Thanks to Golden State people are obsessed with 3 point shooting.
This dude is crazy considering trading Stewart one of the best rim protector in the NBA for max contract players that are role players😂😂😂😂
I hear you but No way we can Trade Stew NO WAY
Oh my gosh he literally beat the s*** out of Jared Allen and mobley? Wow that's amazing. 👌
Stop with the Lauri trades he’s not going anywhere. Isn’t the type of star… that “demands a trade” he loves Utah. A
OkC didn’t get bored of winning… they just hurt to hell.okc never cheats you with effort. Bad example of a good point. They literally be messing 3 + guys every night
Most Pistons fans are delusional. Detroit v Everybody is a thing, but it makes them think "their guys" or role players are better than they are.
The answer is MPJ. We all know the deficiency for Detroit is shooting. Specifically, 3 pointers. MPJ shoots 40% on 9 per game and averages 24? He instantly fixes the spacing issues I see game after game when Cade breaks someone down off the pick and roll and they run the extra guy at him daring guys like Thompson, Holland, Harris, ect to shoot the long ball.
He also is the cheapest option. You can probably get him without giving up Stew and a ton of depth. Harris plus Ivey or Holland and 2 1s feels like it gets it close to done.
MPJ can play the 3, Pistons become a nightmare when they go big with him, Stew, Duran, Cade and Thompson. Go small and play him as a stretch 5 and Cade as a functioning 3? There are a ton of options.
MY GUY YOU ARE WRONG PERIOD WE WON 44 LAST YR STEW WAS NOT THERE IN THE PLAYOFFS.
how you gonna say we will be down 2-1 you dont know that youre projecting. what cade is to the offense stew is to the defense you have idea what youre talkin about pistons teams who win are built like this. dont make anymore pistons trade videos please.
We don't need a trade give Jaden Ivey more minutes.
MJP IS THE ONLY PLAYER WE NEED
It is obvious the Pistons Need 3 Point Shooting 6-31 for 21% GO and Get MJP his CONSISTENT Four (3's) per game at 40% is what is missing and his 25ppg 7rebs and 3ast This is what the Pistons are Drastically Missing.
The reason why the Pistons won this Game because they only had 6 Turnovers and shot 83% 15-18 from the FT Line
Trade Duncan & Levert & Sasser that's 34 MIL and use this trade to get MJP.
This allows Ivey to move back into the Rotation where he could offset some of the 3 point shooting from Duncan but add stronger Perimeter Defense and athleticism on the Offensive End.
MJP will be that bonafied Second Scorer on the 1st Team Offense. That will create more Spacing for Cade, Ivey, and Asuar which will unleased the athleticism for Asur and Ivey more importantly to get to the basket while making it easier for Cade's mid range game without him working so hard which leaves him exhausted late down the stretch of games.
Starters
PG Cade
SG Ivey
SF Ausar
PF MJP
C Duren
Bench
PG Jenkins
SG Greene
SF Holland
PF Tobias
C Stewart
This is what this team should look like after the Trade Deadline
I would trade Caris, Sasser, a few 2nd round picks, and our $14M trade exception for Malik Monk and Dennis Schröder.
I don’t think Pistons need a big name second option. Just someone who can shoot and doesn’t hinder the defense. PJ Washington would’ve my guy
I don't think the pistons would trade stew even if they get giannis. He's pretty much the soul of the team.
More TV stoppages in the playoffs nullifies Detroit's great depth. Very vulnerable as big chalks without adding a shooter but I'm hoping for a Malik Monk instead of giving up too much for KJP or Markkanen. Stew is #1 in league at FG% at the rim! no? Was hoping Klintman might emerge as an outside contributor! Don't give up on him!
You keep mentioning the bully ball the Pistons play, specifically with their front court, yet then say they should be open to the player that embodies that more than anyone…and he’s truly 1 of 2 on the team.
He’s exactly right. We need scoring when the playoffs come. They will take the ball out of Cade’s hands and nobody else on this roster can average 20 points over a 7 game series.
Front office won’t trade Stewart at least not this year
