Celtics Trade Rumors: Chris Boucher, Xavier Tillman & Luxury Tax

Cyro Asseo and Sam break down the latest Boston Celtics trade rumors with CLNS Media’s Bobby Manning, focusing on Chris Boucher, Xavier Tillman, and how the luxury tax and apron rules are shaping Boston’s deadline strategy.

In this clip, the group explains why Boucher and Tillman have struggled to crack the rotation, how internal development has reduced the need for a major center move, and whether Boston could use smaller salary-clearing trades to manage tax pressure without disrupting chemistry. They also discuss why the Celtics may prioritize flexibility and continuity over aggressive deadline swings.

  1. C'mon guys, this is CBA101. They can't just send out 2 guys and take nothing back. Rules require carrying 14 players. Tillman and Boucher are min salary guys, I don't think they could even get under if they swapped them out for 2 2nd round contract guys because that number is over 1mm (at least).

  2. I truly think if Celtics won't use Tillman and Boucher then they should trade them for someone young PF/C that they see have some potential from other teams because it is really a waste of Tillman and Boucher's talent not be used.
