MPJ and Cam Johnson Have an Honest Convo About Their Trade, the Denver Nuggets & the Brooklyn Nets

MPJ and Cam Johnson Have an Honest Convo About Their Trade, the Denver Nuggets & the Brooklyn Nets

This week, Michael Porter Jr. of the Brooklyn Nets joins ‘The Old Man and the Three’ hosted by Cam Johnson of the Denver Nuggets — that’s right…it’s a podcast featuring the very two players that were traded for each other.

They obviously discuss what went down with the trade, the differences in playing for the Nuggets and the Nets, Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray, and their overall adjustments on both teams.

MPJ also gets very candid about his back and shoulder injuries, why he was disappointed in his draft process, and his early career with the Nuggets. They also have an awesome conversation about the differences in their shots, the NBA trade market, and so much more. Let’s go!

  1. I agree with what mpj said he put his body on the line last season for denver it was a shame that he still got traded but I think it was more of how big his contract was that there wasnt enough depth. thj val and bruce brown have been pretty good additions especially thj and val. Last season denvers depth was non existence if they had this bench they win it all last year.

  2. YEAH MIKE!! Miss you brother, I hope the Nets are taking good care of you! You’ll forever be a Nuggets legend ❤

  3. I am cheering from afar seeing Mike succeed in BKN. MPJ, you will never be forgotten for the sacrifices you made to become a champion in Denver!

  4. Mike Malone’s biggest failure as coach was not figuring out how to stagger mpj and jokers minutes, so that we wouldn’t get completely decimated in the “non jokic minutes” in the 2 years after the championship… In hindsight it seems to me he wanted to prove a point that the FO did not give him enough to win by refusing to develop the younger guys (Pwat, strawther, pick, zeke, Gillespie, huff) and only riding his top 6 guys… I didn’t agree in malones firing at first, but looking back now it was 100% the right move

  5. Anyone else ever notice how often the phrase "honest conversation" is used in these videos?
Does that imply most conversations are inherently disingenuous, or that discourse is so filtered through discursive formations that this somehow supersedes the artificial narrative that we already live in?
    Asking for a friend.

  6. MPJ gained a TON of respect for playing so hard through that shoulder injury. It was clear he was doing his damnedest to help the team. But dude had ONE ARM. LOL

  7. Still have the upmost love and appreciation for MPJ. Miss him in Denver but love seeing him ball out in Brooklyn

  8. The best finishers are
    SGA. Kyrie. Lillard. Cade. Jamal.
Cade so damn strong that it just looks easier than others

  9. Aron Gordon, Jamal Murray, Nikola Jokic and Michael never pass the the rock Porter Junior are the greatest nuggets of all time
No word can describe what love has been given as a fan from meto y’all
Hopefully we can win it all this year
Mpj is not just a player but a legend

  10. Great Interview! Very insightful. Wish MPJ was asked a follow-up question about his 'emotional & spiritual approach' to injury recovery. Nugget's fan here who, like many others, voted for MPJ for the All-Stars! Next Year.

  11. This is my favorite episode so far. You have to appreciate Mike’s candidness and how thoughtful he is with his answers.

  12. Love and miss you mpj, hope Brooklyn sends you off to a contender before the deadline. You deserve to compete

  13. Man…..MPJ…..I couldn't wait to see you play. That first year you were on the bench rehabing….I kept telling co-workers, just you wait, once he starts playing he's going to be good. You are a great player….and we miss you in Denver. But so happy to see you thrive in Brooklyn. Stay Blessed MPJ Freestyle!!! (I still dont know why they never played that song in Ball Arena😊)
