This is two different teams when dude is on and off the court. Crazy. They are stagnant without him. Very wise not to trade the youngster because of perception. Most NBA commenters are idiots.
As soon as KK fought to get back on the floor, after missing a game from a rolled ankle, LaMelo saw what toughness looked like. That type rolled ankle would have normally kept LaMelo on the bench for two weeks or more. Now he gets his head busted by his coach and he ends up with stitches and rushed to get back in the game. He wasn't doing this before KK got drafted and Miller would not have played with a shoulder wrap. The kid does his job and doesn't complain.
As a longtime Hornets fan I’ve been watching him most games every season of his career. Some of the prior criticisms were legit. He’s always obviously been one of the most talented and fun players in the league to watch. His IQ in terms of reading a defense and seeing the play before it happens has always been elite. However, his general strategy/style of play each season after his rookie season was essentially hero ball, constantly taking terrible shots and lacking focus. While he didn’t have much to work with, never came across as a serious player. Not known to be any kind of leader or competitor. It’s obviously true that highly competitive guys with leadership qualities typically get weak rosters to overachieve. He didn’t seem too concerned with doing that. That seems to have changed this year and it might be because this is the first season where he really got shit on by the public and league front offices for not being a serious player and it woke him up. That, combined with having players around him that enable him to carry less of the scoring load has helped him focus on other things. Shout out to coach too. The narrative I’m seeing from a lot of YouTubers of “everyone was wrong about Melo” isn’t really accurate. In reality Melo really has taken a leap and I really hope he can stay on the floor because this past month is the most fun I’ve had watching the Hornets since I was a kid before they moved to NO. I definitely think he’s turned the corner in terms of competitiveness and focus, and health is the only concern I have for him at this point. For now I’m cool with him playing light minutes. They can clearly win a lot of games with that and I’d much rather have him for 65 games at 25 minutes than have him for 40 games at 35 minutes. The team is absolutely torching opponents when he’s on the floor.

Hali is more efficient, gets more assists, and turns the ball over way less.
The other thing is that Hali has won 5 playoff series while Lamelo is yet to play in a single series.
Even with their recent run, they are still the 11th seed. There’s a good chance they miss the playoffs again this season.
Lamelo still got a lot of things to prove.
🔥🔥🔥🔥
Yea without melo they would not be this good
It's good to see LaMelo having a great season
NO PLAY-IN WE WILL BE A PLAYOFF TEAM # 4 SEED 1ST ROUND HOME COURT ADVANTAGE…
Im not buying, playstyle is awful, will be watching though, hope ime wrong.
