Miami Heat don’t make a move before deadline: Instant Reaction | Five on the Floor

The Miami Heat tried to get Giannis, but he stayed in Milwaukee for now. And the Heat were one of only three teams in the NBA that didn’t make a trade of any kind, to buy, sell or reshuffle. Ethan Skolnick and Greg Sylvander jumped on the podcast 15 minutes after the deadline ended to process what was known.

  1. Ware is the teams most talented player and if Spo can't reach him, maybe it's time to move on from Spo. Honestly Spo has been bad for TWO YEARS.

  2. You ingrate selfish fans always blaming others instead of being positive encourage one another and losing that crab mentality which was imbedded in every fabric of your human being!!!! Go Pat & Spo MMGA = Make Miami Great Again 😂😂😂

  3. This is a team full of nice to ok players. They’ll make the stupid play-in again, probably advance, then get embarrassed in the first round AGAIN. It’s the same note every year. This is a lost organization.

  4. I will always be in favor of rolling the dice with our own guys rather than trading everything but the kitchen sink for a win now player. You dont ever see San Antonio trade their future away. They build dynasties and that happens when you think longterm and that's how they become relevant for 20 years. I believe these deals become more palatable in the off-season where we wouldn't have to give up as much since you'd be paying for one less year. Get them at the biggest bargain. And enough with drafting players with a Michael Beasley attitude. No talent in the world can overcome the troubled minds. Players like Ja are a ticking time bomb not worth their off court dramas. The Whitesides, the Butlers and the Wares of the world are physically Heat material but not mentally and they should put more stock into what's between the ears because when you eventually trade them, you'll have to give up more and balancing the ledger over a period of years is precisely what will prime the team to build a household contender. But if you give up too much for a Giannis, it undoes year of careful cap construction not for the opportunities to turn it into a great player at a high cost but rather as a pool of resources to dig into when you can get good players at a bargain bin price.

  5. been watching this team since the beginning, and I think I'm finally done with them. I don't blame them for not getting Giannis and think they tried, and can even understand deciding against taking the chance with Ja, but nothing? Not even a minor trade to get a backup big. i dont see how we should keep hearing how great our front office is when they continue to do nothing.

  6. it’s a complete fools errand that people trick themselves into believing, but we’ve seen through it! Maybe us giving up on it is what will make it happen!😂

  7. if they did ask for Bam and few pieces then the FO should’ve done it. Bam is not a franchise player IMO.

  8. I think Erik Spoelstra is a shit coach, forces the front offices into going in a shit direction, and make shit decisions on roster improvement based on his shit coaching preferences.

But you all have elevated him to this coaching god and they will never get rid of him. Especially now that he’s gonna coach team USA. That is gonna be a whole new era of thinking everyone is gonna just up and come play for the Heat.

  9. Washington, Indiana Definitely got better…. Boston, Cleveland, Detroit got better… Tatum coming bat, etc

  10. Tyler can't score without a pick against good defenders… Please stop trying to sell him👎🏾

  11. They gave Pat all this undeserved Credit…. But now he's not In Charge 😂👎🏾💩

  12. This organisation has become more about feel good stories than winning. Bam- feel good story of “he embodies Heat Culture” (mediocrity), Norm – feel good story, Herro – feel good story of trying to prove people wrong, Spo – feel good story of he came up through the ranks.
There is absolutely zero ruthlessness or edge to this organisation anymore, they are passive and expect to get things their way.
We have spent years clowning Chicago and Atlanta for being what they are and completely given this front office a pass because of things that happened 8 or 15 years ago.
This organisation is the clearest example of a what happens when their is ZERO accountability for the major stake holders. Bam knows he’s not getting benched even if he goes 3/22, Spo knows he’s not getting fired even if he drives the Heat’s best assets value into the dirt and the front office know they are untouchable.

They are not the golden standard anymore and haven’t been for a while. Full stop.

  13. The direction for this franchise is to trade Bam, Herro, Wiggins and Powell for a bunch of 1st and 2nd round picks and build from there, this team is going nowhere, I rather go through a couple of down years for a chance to draft a superstar maybe 2, but this front office has no foresight whatsoever

  14. I’ll say this, the front office better tread lightly and outline a direction cause this secrecy shit is not gunna hold fans over. We’re tired of BS. They pride themselves on a ‘no excuse’ standard and the fans are holding them to that. Stop trying to sell fans on garbage like we’re a bunch of idiots.

  15. Time to move on….he's injury plagued also…4 calf strains…he just said legends don't chase they attract….nobody wanna go to Milwaukee either…

  16. I'm glad the Heat didn't make any moves. Organically, we are 1 stud player or 2 good players away from being a force. This year we have beaten Denver, OKC, Detroit, New York, LA Clippers and Cleveland. This shows we have the talent and potential. Why GUT the team for Giannis? Yeah, Giannis is a stud and a difference maker AND has good character (unlike Morant). But he has had 4 calf injuries the past 2 years. Is he breaking down or declining? THAT is the question. The Heat have been knocked over the head too many times in the past with bad trades and signings. I'm glad they are finally learning from this. I would rather have had Porzingis at a discount, or Zubac.

As for Morant, he is due $87 million for the next 2 years. He has missed more games than he has played the past 3 years. He has off-court issues. Any GM who trades for him would have to be a complete MORON at his price. THAT is why teams are also asking for a draft pick to go along with Morant. Because if Morant shits the bed (which is more likely than not), at least they would have the pick to fall back on.

Jakucionis I feel is going to be great. If Jaime can continue to work on his ball-handling and add a little finesse to his inside game, he can become another Jimmy Butler. I don't think we have to worry about money when it comes to Herro. He has no leg to stand on to ask for more money due to his availability issues. Pelle is turning into a nice player, and Mitchell is pretty cheap for what he brings to the table. Wiggins is an unsung hero who just goes about his business.

The MAIN problem I see is Bam's salary. Bam is a GREAT player—for $30-35 million. NOT for $50+ million. THAT contract needs to be addressed. A player that commands that kind of money needs to consistently perform and will his team to victory. Bam just doesn't have it. He has improved his outside shooting, but he still has not developed a good post-up game. He settles for little 10-foot floaters in the paint when he should be slamming the ball home. He is just as likely to get 5 rebounds in a game as 12 rebounds in a game. And I have noticed that players have been blowing by him on defense. He also back-pedals a lot when a player is driving, instead of standing his ground.

The other problem is going to be Jovic. If he doesn't get his head on straight by next year, he needs to be moved. He can't be making that kind of money and be torpedoing games for us. If he can't help us win a game, fine. But he can't be LOSING games for us.

As for Ware, I feel he is being held to a double standard. If Spo wants to bench Ware for making a bonehead play or for being disengaged, FINE. But he has to do the same to the others. How many times have we seen Dru Smith dribble the air out of the ball and turn the ball over? Or Bam standing there and not go for a rebound? Or multiple players making bonehead passes?

If we can flip 2 draft picks for 1 higher draft pick, or sign a couple of impactful role players, I think we will be fine.

  17. Memphis did what Miami should have done… I would say "this was a missed opportunity", but this feels like they missed all kinds of opportunities. No plans? Nothing? Not even move the Rozier expiring to fill in a role to actually have a player fill that role? Come on man… blow this shit up already

  18. So if they were an asset away, then the league screwed us out of Giannis by not granting compensation for the Rozier debacle

  19. What a joke 😂 gotta make a move either for giannis or wvwn a smaller move. Trade herro for sometbing anything. Its better than his fragile ass sitting on the bench injured with his weird ass clothes. Teade jovic or jacquez or anything. This is crazy
