Till this day it still blows my mind on why the fuck they decided to trade luka when he brought this team to the finals.. His career is in a uphill trajectory until you all fuck that up.

These guys blinked! You had a championship caliber team if you would have been patient. These spoiled fans and media actually made the decisions. They hated Nico so much that they wanted to undo everything he put together.
Let me make this clear. This trade was made to clear cap space. Dallas did not trade AD and others for the useless picks that we just received. The OKC pick is practically a second round pick. The GSW pick is top 20 protected, that means golden state needs to be a top ten team for us to get the pick and I highly doubt that’ll happen. These players coming in are expiring deals likely not going to resign but who knows. These last 30 games will tell. The talk about flexibility is essentially them saying they want to score in free agency. We haven’t had much luck with striking out on that side of things. Kyrie is so important for if our team will be a contender next year. Everyone who has watched Ky will know how invested he’s been in the mavs and growing this franchise. Dallas will not be trading Kyrie because of his huge impact. If Ky comes back healthy and we pick up another good rookie and get a good signing, it may bring us back on the map

McMahon reported that Matt Riccardi was the one who made the deal and ngl i say he did pretty good as a 1st timer.
Lets be real, you weren't getting much for AD because he's older and injury prone so don't cry about how "he didn't get enough," you're stupid if you think that.
You basically had to salary dump AD because paying AD the next 2 years 50 and 60 million and plus an extension, that's horrible for someone who's likely won't be healthy. And on top of that, getting rid of Dlo, Exum, and Hardy bad contracts helps a lot. Previously the Mavericks only had 2 minimal expiring contracts. Now they have 5 expiring with one being 33 millions, that open you're wiggle room to make moves like taking small bad contracts for more assets.
Im not mad anymore, at this point, it is what it is and im glad it's all completely over. It's unfair for AD, but he'll always be attached to Nico and it was best he didn't stay in Dallas because he unintentionally is a constant reminder of Nico terrorism.
I'd still like an experience GM, but if Riccardi gets promoted as the main GM, I'll be skeptical, but not mad at all at that decision.
its crazy how most people still think the luka trade was done by nico harrison. no gm in the league would trade their star player, especially one as competent as nico. you dont make the finals in 3 years and not know how to build a team. you dont get free agents like kyrie, klay, pj, gafford, naji, grimes and not know what you are doing. it kills me people just ignore the real issue. its ownership and if you live in dallas you know they want a hand in everything. my guess is they didnt want to pay 350 million for a contract. when their family is worth 100 billion its just so fucking shitty and 100% the league had a hand in it. you dont do a sketchy deal under the table and not take bids, you dont say we want to stay healthy and trade for ad, you dont get the first pick in the draft at 1% and land cooper flagg. it just doesnt happen. and if you think nico is that incompetent you are not real.
