Jose Alvarado TRADE to the Knicks Means There MUST be More Moves For The New Orleans Pelicans

New Orleans Pelicans shock fans by trading Jose Alvarado to the New York Knicks for second-round picks, leaving the roster and team identity in question. Could this be the start of a franchise overhaul, or are bolder moves coming over the offseason? Jake Madison examines the Pelicans’ confused strategy as league insiders and fans alike question the front office’s vision. The discussion probes Zion Williamson’s future, potential strategies, and whether a full rebuild or a “win-now” approach is imminent.

Key topics include the logic behind Alvarado’s departure, the significance of acquiring draft capital, and which players—like Trey Murphy and Herb Jones—could be next. Insightful analysis covers the impact on the Pelicans’ locker room, the development opportunities for rookies Jeremiah Fears and Bryce McGowens, and coaching speculation around James Borrego. Can New Orleans find direction before another season slips away, or will the current leadership risk it all on pride and uncertainty?

  1. For the sickos, those two second-rounders New York sent New Orleans to land Jose Alvarado, per source:

2026 will be the least favorable of Orlando, Milwaukee, Detroit; 2027 will be the second most favorable of Indiana, Miami, Houston, OKC.

so we got the 2nd or 3rd to last pick in the 2026 draft, and another second round pick probably in the 50s in 2027 for Alvarado
    🤦🤦

  2. Yes more moves!! It sucks that we will be waiting until the offseason,
We just gotta focus on winning the remaining games to alleviate fans' stress

  3. Not even a full season and you saying FIRE the front office. I don’t recall you EVER saying Griff should be FIRED. The front office who brought in most of these players, hired Willie Green, had Zion frustrated with the team, went through several coaches, had more draft misses than hits. Etc

  4. I think the Jose trade was nothing but a desperate fakeout to try and appease the fanbase and prove they were doing something, but it's going to backfire badly because they're utterly clueless.

  5. Man, I hate to see Jose go, but I'm so glad for him and his family that he gets to go home and play for a contender. The Pels did the right thing by treating him right for all he did and gave to this team. In return, the Pels get a 23 yr old 6'6" SG/SF former 1st round pick and two 2nd round picks for an undrafted free agent. I think if the Pels can get away from acquiring so many undersized and under weight players and pick up more players with size who can shoot, rebound, and play defense in order to compete in the West that would be a good start to their rebuild. This team is struggling really bad with a bunch of undersized players who are not shooting well, rebounding on both sides, and/or playing good defense. That is a very bad combination. Especially, for a team in the deep West. Heck, they aren't beating the weak East teams consistently. Zion is not a leader of men. He should be a role player on a good team. Herb and Trey should be as starters on good competitive teams. I think the Pels would be wise to see what kind of moves they could make with these 3 in the off season. Lastly, the Pels just need to get the coaches who can develop good young players. They got Fears at PG and Queen at PF/C and Missi at PF/C. Work with this young core and build around them. If push comes to shove, next year they might be able to start the season off with a healthy Murray at PG; Trey at SG; Herb at SF; Zion at PF; Missi at C with Fears, Queen, Missi playing with the second unit and back up starters see which of the young players can be a 6th man of the year!!! Play hard on both sides of the court!

  6. F this franchise I rather have Zion DJ and Poole of this team but they trade the soul and heart for none

  7. Reminder everybody, after you click dislike on this rage bait you have to actually exit the video for the algorithm to take it into account

  8. You loose… You don t have your pick… And you does nothing but giving a good rôle player! Dumars made a gift to NY😮. He wants Nola to collapse

  9. We needed picks to move our massive contracts, Poole, Zion, Murray, one of them is gone, also we're small, we need size, should have traded Hawkins for Ben Mathturn in Indiana straight up, well great for Alverado, he's home

  10. With the exception of Washington, what team got great value during the deadline? Atlanta-maybe? Nobody was able to move a bunch of bad contracts.

  11. When they drafted Mr. Fear they had to get rid of a guard now they have to get rid of another player to make room for Mr. Queen. Queen and Fears are your new faces for the Pelicans. Thanks Joe.

  12. There has to be something big coming. None of this makes any sense. Why trade away core players for question marks and expect this team to be successful.
