We just got a Glimpse of the FUTURE…
It has been a very hectic 24 hours for the OKC Thunder, recapped by Gabriel Ebersole in this video. Not only did they buy at the trade deadline, fleecing the Philadelphia 76ers for uncrowned 2025 NBA Rookie of the Year Jared McCain (2024 NBA Draft no. 16 from Duke basketball) by trading the Houston Rockets’ first round pick, but they were also sellers, moving Ousmane Dieng in a three team deal with the Charlotte Hornets and Chicago Bulls. But this wasn’t an off day for the OKC Thunder — they had a primetime game against rival Victor Wembanyama, Stephon Castle, and the San Antonio Spurs. However, on the back end of a back to back, not only was the entire starting five (SGA, JDub, Lu Dort, Chet Holmgren, and Isaiah Hartenstein) missing the contest — so was the majoring of the bench. Even in a loss, the 8 man Thunder rotation, which consisted of three 2-way (G League) players, put up a strong fight. NOW YOU HAVE MCCAIN WHO IS FOCUSED ON MAKING FINGERNAIL PAINT AND MAKING VIDEOS SINGING AND DANCING NOT IN THE GYM PRACTICING LIKE DIENG WOULD BE. PATHETIC. BAD TRADE HORRIBLE TEAM ASSET. Hrs been injured more than hes played..hardly a " Gem."
OKC's 2nd team is unreal. Kenrich Williams has improved dramatically and Wallace has shown some flashes lately especially in that game where he had 7 threes. Now that Dieng is gone there literally is not one weak link on the team. Everybody can play.
I like the trade for Jared. He wasn't even on my mind for people to think about. I hope the 3 pt shooting helps. I think he will fit well in the Thunder culture.
I wanted Dieng to trade but I wish him the best. A lot of the players the Thunder developed go on to good minutes on other teams. I hope he enjoys catching up with Giddey. His statement about his team in OKC was very considerate.
JWill, KRich and Wiggs made a brave successful effort and they looked good. I was very proud of them. Barnhizer was a pleasant surprise.
