Raptors Trade Deadline Explained… Did They Do Enough?

The Toronto Raptors’ trade deadline is officially over — but did they actually do enough? In this clip, Jacob Gramegna breaks down everything Toronto did and didn’t do, including trading Ochai Agbaji to get under the tax and acquiring Trayce Jackson-Davis to add size to the frontcourt.

We react to the decisions, explain the logic behind the moves, and discuss what this deadline says about the Raptors’ priorities moving forward. Was this the right kind of restraint, or a missed opportunity? Raptors fans, let’s break it down.

  1. Raps did great they told us it was still a development year they got us under the tax and we got a center . People wanting to throw all our picks away in a frenzied market ahead of one of the mos stacked drafts

  2. TJD is 6'10.25"+ in shoes with a max vert of 36.5" he gunna surprise some people in Darko's system

  3. RJ didn't have his head in the game; he was looking over his shoulder, and it affected his game. I'm sure he's relieved. I'm curious to see if he steps up and has a great game tonight.

  4. Time will tell if the so-called “big man“ who Bob Webster went out to acquire will be a good enough fit for the Raptors to win enough games to finish top-six in the NBA’s Eastern Conference. Even finishing 10th will be some progress over last season, with the Raptors‘ having won just 30 regular-season games from October 2024 to last April. From last October to this Wednesday EST, the Raptors had already won 30 regular-season games, with 30 games to go before the play-in tournament begins. Winning at least 15 of those 30 games will take the Raptors’ regular-season October 2025-April 2026 record from 30-22 to 45–37, with 45 wins more, in regular season play, than the Raptors had last season (30), two seasons ago (25) or three seasons ago (41).

  5. I like what we did. This is ALL we needed to do. This is year one or two of a rebuild. Not contention window. We are way ahead of schedule and need to be patient. We will add another great piece to the young core next year. I really hope we stay around pick 18-22. Then we SHOULD have the pick of the litter for centres. Steinbach would be my first choice. But he calls himself a PF (6’11” – 245) he will be gone before we pick. But all of the true centres will be on the board I do believe. Henri vessar is my choice right now. European and an all around game. Nbonga, aday Mara a 7’3” true rim protector. We will have options.

  6. I’m so happy we didn’t trade a first round pick, especially the 2026 pick. Thank God. And people keep saying we don’t have a second round pick now because we traded it to get trayce. We traded the lakers pick and still have our own. Because it’s protected 31-55!!! So we will get it 100% (unless we finish top 5 in the nba which won’t happen)

  7. Have it ever crossed the idea that's they are waiting for Jakob to come back that rhey see something ready before the playoffs

  8. Went exactly as expected.

JP is our biggest issue at the moment. This is just the situation we’re in. Sadly.

We got below the tax. We got somewhat security at Centre.
It’s what I thought was going to happen, and I’m not mad.

Seeing some of the other trades is the only thing that bothered me. A lot of players it seemed like the Raps didn’t know was available.

  10. Draft Combine 6’ 8.25” no shoes. Some folks inflate shoes this is why NBA only doing shoeless now and in future. Sandro was 6’ 9” under shoeless process. So when they get shoulder to Shoulder we will see. Long ( Colin Castleton ) or hair more for TJ-D vs Sandro should not count. Wing span on TJ-D good
There are a few Guards waived we should think about on vet min.

  11. Personally I would have used draft capital to make more significant "win now" upgrades. With BI and Scottie you need to strike while the iron is hot. Sure you can hit the jackpot on draft night, but you can also draft a Khaman Maluach stunt double that will need further development in the G League. Already I feel that the Raptors don't have sufficient minutes available to develop their prospects.

  12. Should e traded poetl he moves like a turtle and is only good around the rim, he can't dribble he can't shoot he can't do nothing

  13. Too cheap to pay the tax, too cheap to spend a first, too cheap to tank and lose playoff revenue. But every year a new color jersey comes out 🤑. This franchise is not serious about winning.

  14. What I would like to know is whether the Raptors are confident that they’ll be able to draft someone better than Sharpe or Missi with their 2026 1st round pick?

  15. Raptors made garbage moves. Gave up more than they got back, didn't address any real needs, and a complete let down to fans who have stuck with this team over some very hard seasons. Holding out some very slim hope they pick up post waivers, maybe something like Cam Thomas? but the real needs I have no idea…. is Jak all of a sudden going to be healthy and play out the season???? Raptors had a real chance to hang onto a 4th place in the East and try to move up, every other team got better and again Raptors did nothing real. BUMMED.

  16. Let’s see rest of the 30 games a head. Raptors not playing well in home games. May be another 15 wins can solidify 4th spot.
If Jacob back from injury after all star break can get the offensive rhythm back.
    Fingers crossed.

  17. Idk….I think the raps could've made a move. East wideopen IMO….one or two good moves would've put them in the ECF. I guess the thinking is that we still have another year or two for these guys to gel and grow their games but it's hard not to look at the East and see an opportunity…but maybe this is where patience comes in…but if thats the case, we need to see a legit contender in the next 2 or 3 years…in what is surely to be a tougher East again
