MISSED Opportunity!?
Did the San Antonio Spurs miss a hidden gem by not drafting Maxime Raynaud? In this video, I’ll break down Raynaud’s performance and what he could have brought to the Spurs organization. I’ll also rant a bit about Brian Wright’s draft history.

Was trading the 38th pick the right move? Since I went off on a tangent, how has Brian Wright done on draft night? Thanks for watching and GO SPURS GO!
Him or Noah Penda would've been ELITE
Again you use the outdated height with shoes.
Maxime Raynaud is in fact 7′ 0.25” without shoes (draft combine measurement)
with a 7′ 1.25” wingspan and a 9′ 2” standing reach
@Tsr This one bugs me too. He is such a good friend with Wemby. I like to imagine they didn't think he would come down so low but who really knows. He would have been an amazing pick along DH and CB.
The kid wouldnt’ve cracked the rotation 🤷 the vets (olynyk, biyombo) are necessary to have around this super young core of talent and are invaluable even though they dont play consistently – a 22 yo in the same situation would be losing confidence with each healthy DNP, i mean just look at Jeremey! 😢
how do you feel about okc being investigated now for the benching all their players against spurs? you called it
If you go back and look, we were both complaining about this! We had a chance to draft him!
I was pounding the drum for him last year. Still have a chance in the 2026 draft to get Tomislav Ivisic 7-1 center from Illinois. Per NBA Draft Room: "a very high skill level for a 7-1 center. He’s a very good passer for a big and is a legit floor spacer as well. Has a great size and strength and the toughness to bang inside. He’s got good hands, catches everything, secures rebounds well and has a soft touch around the basket. Shoots a high percentage from the field and is a very good FT shooter as well. Has a really good feel on the offensive end, knows how to set screens at good angles and how to roll to the basket or pop to the 3pt line. He uses his size and weight well to control the paint. Holds his ground well and is an intimidator on defense. His 3pt shooting ability is really impressive and is one of his defining skills." Come on spurs.
TSR I'm gonna call you the San Antonio Tyrannosaurus-Spurs-Rex
This guy could of being with us and I could put my hands in the fire that that kid Maxine could of gave us a championship this year
The question on 2026 draft depends on who the Spurs keep. Harrison Barnes, Jeremy Sochan, Kelly Olynyk, Jordan Mclaughlin, Lindy Waters, lastly Bismack Biyombo. Do the Spurs bring to the main team David Jones Garcia and or Stenly Umude. I've been keeping up on the draftees on NBA Draft Room, and it looks like they have some pretty decent roll players in the second round and some projected to go undrafted.
One comment I'll make that probably no one will like is I think the NBA should got to 5 two-way slots. Why the arbitrary 3? 5 is a playable number especially in practice. "We talkin bout practice".
Hope this next season the Spurs draft the hidden gem Karim Lopez
Honestly letting Mamu walk hurt more but Maxime is nice
It's best for him to get more playing time somewhere else. Could be a coin flip, where he could distract Wemby's focus? I think we will get him eventually. Trust in the process. Go Spurs Go!
Sochan over Duren
Rich have u heard about the expansion teams happening? The team can only protect 8 players and the rest will be for the draft for the expansion teams. That can be a good discussion for a video. Also was wondering if you are doing a mid season review for every players? Go Spurs Go!
Couldn't agree more TSR. I could see the Spurs logic then how they wanted big strong vet centers to help an anxious Wemby (as opposed to more second rounders roster cluttered like Harrison Ingram who simply won't ever flourish). Hindsight being 20-20 you're wRight and Brian's Wrong. . . .
Imagine this the year they traded the eighth pick to Minnesota for whatever that small point guard does not a bull if they would take Buzelis that draft at the eighth pick Spurs would be I don’t know how they could be more ridiculous than they are already so, but they would be better hopefully he wouldn’t be toying away in the G league because it’s the Spurs just like what you’re saying about this other guy raynaud
The spurs draft horribly! If it’s not the most obvious pick like a Wemby the GM doesn’t draft well at all.. spurs need a new coach and GM
im no longer surprised with this… to think spurs could have drafted jokic instead of Kyle Anderson and sengun instead of josh primo ,and many other misses… honestly I want more international player on spurs team like the 2014 champion team.. why? they usually pass first mindset, good at sharing the ball and or moving the ball around..
We skipped Renault and Danny wolf two bigs which we need. Mr. Wright is I'll qualified.
Yeah, we didnt even wait till the actual day before we made the trade. Such a waste of second rnd pick, and he's going to be on a cheaper rookie contract
Well I’m also a kings fan so
Because we had no idea he'd be there. Supposedly Brian Wright said the same thing. In fact most folks were shocked fell that far considering how well he showed out of the combine.
But If you remember that kid was all over the map he was anywhere from low lottery all the way to the middle of the second round cause nobody could quite decide what he was. Did we know that for sure or are we just guessing?
I'm not too sure who's been bringing it up but I'm not 1 of those people. You're playing to a minority here most everybody here is relatively happy with this team that we've got right now. That's #1 #2. If we want to get that guy or get someone like him we can get him. Like I said most everybody thought he would have been gone by the end of the 1st round if you remember that and that's why we didn't need the pick we already made our decisions on where we were gonna go. And again supposedly Brian Wright would have drafted him if he had known he was going to be there. And remember where did he where did he wind up getting drafted at42 that means a whole bunch of teams passed on this guy.
Brian wright has been terrible with our contracts… KV is WAY overpaid. Fox is overpaid as well and untradable now between his contract and play under Mitch… We don't have room to extend wemby, castle and Harper because of Vassell and Fox.
I give Brian a A. No general manager is perfect No general manager is perfect Sam priesty got to be where he was TSR because he had a because he found 2 greedy owners that were willing to mortgage their futures to win now that's how Oklahoma city got to be where they are. If Ballmer doesn't make that trade to appease Kawhi Oklahoma city is not the champions.
Of course it’s a missing opportunity. Like Yabusele. But Maxime is French. There won’t be another French traded with Wemby. It’s too much pressure for wemby to have to deal with the wellbeing of another French teammate.
Yeah we did ,its jalen Duren all over again hohum , and this reminds me also of us drafting primo😂😂😂
Yeah I was hoping Spurs had drafted him. Especially now that Olynk has been playing poorly.
I was one on the very early one who had pushed the idea of Maxime Reynaud.
I was initialy up for an exchange of our pick 14 with Brooklyn pick 19+26 or 26+27 to be sur to get Reynaud and a power forward (Asa Newell, or Rasheer Fleming) to back up Sochan.
When we saw we took Carter Bryant, I really was hoping for Reynaud with our second round pick and we sold that pick and Reynaud was still available… So Sad!
Max …He learn in his own way …. he can come later
I wanted him too. Can't be worse than Biyombo or Olynyk. Low risk (38th pick) and cost (1.2m) for a possible high reward (3rd big).
Problem is Spurs dont have time for Raynaud, even Sochan has no minutes now.
he wouldn't have made the rotation just as Ollynyk isn't…
