Reaction to Pistons-Hornets FIGHT + Cavs impressive win vs. Nuggets, Thunder beat LeBron’s Lakers
Jason reacts to the game between the Detroit Pistons and Charlotte Hornets where Cade Cunningham’s team got the win but the biggest story of the night was the fight involving Jalen Duren, Isaiah Stewart, Moussa Diabate, and Miles Bridges. Then he breaks down how James Harden, Donovan Mitchell, and the Cleveland Cavaliers got an impressive win over Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets, as well as the Oklahoma City Thunder beating the Los Angeles Lakers in a game without Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Luka Doncic.

3 games max. NBA needs this level of physicality and builds teams not liking each other instead of dancing and hugging each other
I hope they don't bring the hammer down on any player. They kept it on the court, no punched really landed. Stew will get prob 5-10 games because of history and coming off the bench. I don't think anyone else should get more than a few games.
I like physical play but Stewart should be banned. He just do way too much for me
WHAT? No breakdown from that epic instant-classic Warriors Grizzlies game!!??
😂😂
Not a Hornets or Pistons fan, but Detroit and Duren in particular were just stupid.
OKC and Detroit both keep tiptoeing around the line between “physical” and straight-up fouling, and this was a perfect example. Duren literally shoved Diabate on the previous play.
That’s the problem: the refs let one team play physical while the other gets punished for the same contact. It’s inconsistent and lazy.
The league seriously needs to rework what “physical basketball” actually means and enforce a clear, consistent standard. Either allow it for everyone or call it for everyone this pick-and-choose officiating is garbage.
Love your work Jason ❤
Lakers played well. Good chance to get a home W.
They just couldn’t do it.
Lebron kept running down the clock and bricking. Ball stopped going to AR.
OKC loves our Thunder and Alex Caruso!
Mailbag: general basketball question do you believe that every team should have a set closing lineup or should it be based upon who’s playing better and what the coach feels the team needs to lean into
As a Cavs fan
We know when healthy
HARDEN DONOVAN and Evan mobely (at the 5) are going to be there
But do you think the last two slots just depend on the opponent/whos playing well
Or what do you believe the last two players should be because we’re such a versatile team
You can run TYSON/keon
Jarret Sam
Etc etc
Sorry the question was long
I'm sure this is how Miles Bridges was when he beat his girlfriend. Not sure why this dude is still in the league. The nba is so performative in supporting women
Lakers are a first round exit any way you slice it.
Beef stew is the man , Detroit loves him, All the haters can stuff it
Let's be real. Other than Diabate the rest of them were just posturing…
Why do people pretend he didn’t headbutt Duren? Which is why Duren face pushed him. People acting like Duren just approached Moussa and face pushed him. Weird.
Bridges went out of his way to stalk down and cheap shot Duren 20sec after it was cleared. He was given a second chance after being a POS wife beater and he’s still violent? A real commissioner would banish him for life. Duren 1 game- Stew 2 games but he deserves a medal.
Just gotta say Jason. Loving the show a lot more than the tail end of last year. So much better `being un-biased. Excellent work!
Jason is a sith! Don’t go to the dark side like bridges
Cavs vs Thunder Finals! Book it!
Thank you for your honesty Jason
Thunder fans call them j-dub and JWill.
J-Dub is the guy who dropped 40 in the finals last year and JWill is the power forward with the bright smile
Mailbag: You and other analysts say in the NBA today you are dead on arrival if you dont have a Superstar who creates advantages. but… Assuming the chemistry was a given what 5 Fringe Stars could you put together to make an '04 Pistons type run? Would love to hear what modern players you could see fitting the roles of Billups, Hamilton, Prince, Wallace x2 and even rotation players L. Hunter and Okur.
Deeeeeetroit Basketball!!!!!! And no LeBron did that ON PURPOSE… it wasn't inadvertently….smh And how can you tell someone what's something worth to them? Your speaking in hindsight which is real easy to do when your not in the heat of the moment…..
How many times will Jason be tricked by a team with James Harden as a key player. It just doesn’t work in April-June
Who woulda thought. The pistons and hornets get a segment of their own. Probably as a result of the brawl though lol
Starts the lakers/thunder analysis by saying thunder offense completely falls off without shai, but lakers barely are affected by Lukas absence. And what they lack his offense, make up for it by better defense.
Pretty much saying Luka is a net zero player and lakers pretty much the same team without him. In the same breath not acknowledging that thunder games played without shai has been against stout defenses, and all but one of them didn’t include their second best player.
This is the issue when people over analyze metrics. Jason has a great basketball mind and enjoy how he breaks down the games. But I hope for a bit more eye test stuff from him as well.
You’re right, but players can’t just walk away like Jason Tatum when Grant Williams knocked him to the floor earlier this year. I think it was this year. You can’t just walk away like a punk you-know-what, like Tatum.
8:50 Somewhere, Palpatine is smiling
Bruh your being a snowflake with pistons fight take!
Only the Pistons would risk losing rotation players that have helped them get the one seed so that they could fist fight a team that might make the play in
Warriors now have 2 gritty, epic comebacks without Steph and led by Horford, Melton, Spencer, and Santos. Jebron Lakers suffered a demoralizing loss.
Finesse offensive teams historically struggle emotionally when presented with tough, physical defensive teams.
We have seen it time and time again throughout sports history. When a finesse offensive team that thrives when they aren't pushed and can just do whatever they want on offense is taken out of their game by an in your face, physical, defensive team, that offensive minded team will get overly emotional while attempting to meet that defensive team's physical intensity, inevitably that offensive team will start throwing punches when their frustration. This is why defensive teams have historically had "enforcer" types coming off their bench.
Yes, Basketball used to give expression to my Violent side. I miss it a lot
5 or 10 games..! For a first time offense… Beef stew going to miss the rest of the season with that thought
I know Stewart is gonna get a severe punishment but playing without him for a portion of the season is 100% worth preserving the culture the pistons have set. You’re not gonna go and try to take a sneaky swing on one of our guys and get away with that. We’re playing physical and if you got a problem with that then let’s squabble about it.
Dude… what? Duran wasn't trying to go head to head, the Hornet player literally got in his face, pushing his forehead on him. I totally get pushing the guy by the face.
8:46 and that's a good example of players that do not have that drive or motor like Andrew Wiggins when he was on the Warriors or DeAndre ayton right now on the lakers. They could take it or leave it and it's quite evident
MAILBAG: Hey Jason, I'm curious to know your thoughts about the idea of JDub adopting a draymond esque role with this fully healthy thunder team. Somone who does what he already does on defense but on offense cuts out the diffcult midrage shots he takes, uses his handle to create for his teammates, and finsih at the rim/take open catch and shoot 3s exclusively while being a roaming screener/cutter. I understand that on paper he’s supposed to be the Thunders second best ball handler, and I know, I know, he dropped 40 in a finals game, but as a fan of this team, I'm tired of seeing him dribble the life out of the ball and settling for these dribble-drive fadeaways. I was never in the camp that he should be traded; however, someone in that locker room really needs to tell him he's not Kobe Bryant. With the Ajay Mitchell emergance and Jmac trade, I believe this team can survive and thrive with shai being the lone high variance difficult shot maker.
Top 5 commentators in the game right now
14:27 I thought Moussa instigated and escalated the entire thing and Duran consistently just defended himself. When they went face to face, instead of just talking smack back and forth, Moussa lowered his head directly into Duran’s face. Whether you want to call it a headbutt or a head bump or whatever, I think expecting a physical response to making physical contact with another persons face is the most rational conclusion. Duran shoved him is the face because Moussa put his head into Durans face. Then Bridges two handed shoved Duran and Moussa and both Bridges and Moussa continued to pursue Duran while at times swinging at him. While it’s not wise for Beef Stew to come off the bench from an NBA suspension standpoint, I actually respect the hell out of him for defending his teammate. He watched the Hornets players repeatedly pursue his teammate in an attempt to physically harm his teammate
Edit: I just realized I misspelled Durens name throughout my comment. Muh bad
Why are you using the OKC thunder as a measuring stick for the Lakers? You need to start looking at teams like Minnesota, Denver, Houston, and the Spurs if you want to compare a team to the Lakers. This clickbait has got to stop
