I think you're being a bit harsh on the Mavs, you're talking as though Nico's still in charge. Even late firsts are still firsts, seconds aren't nothing, and they're off of AD's money after this season. In the context of the Luka trade, anything less than Michael Jordan would've been incredibly disappointing, but what do you think AD's value was? I didn't even think they'd get this much, immediate salary relief and FIVE draft picks? I don't care that only two are firsts, that's five more shots at getting a good player (not necessarily a star, just a good player) than they had yesterday. I dunno how Mavs fans are feeling, but I'm more than happy with that return

It’s not the Luka trade so it shouldn’t be evaluated that way. The Luka trade was insanely stupid. This is a good trade for the Mavs to gain a ton of flexibility to build around Flagg. They can’t undo what that egotistical moron Nico did

AD made 40% of our salary cap, this team is way too expensive to be 19-31😭 plus no way to build anything around cooper bc of it, this is a better deal than I thought they’d ever get for AD, if they even got ANYTHING for him
I feel bad for AD as a person, but I’ll take expiring contracts and random young guys over experiencing this ridiculous ground hogs day anymore, I may be wrong, but I don’t think AD ever played 5 games in a row in Dallas, I fear his value is only gonna get lower from here on out

Wizards are about to pay a guy $250M over 4 years to play 25 games a season. I think amazing is a huge overstatement. The Mavs lost the LD trade significantly no way around that, but they won this trade at face value. Not having to pay AD to sit on your bench is a win in itself.
The flexibility this gave the mavs is huge. You were never getting a good return. But they HAD to trade AD so this was the best it would get.
Correction, you are right it’s not a good return for Luka but even before we traded AD that was obvious. Now I disagree that it wasn’t a good return for AD, that’s gotta be close to as good as it was gonna get for him at this point im honestly shocked they got that done and created so much room
