Folks want the Wizard to remain the Washington Generals of the league.
Its not a "forced rant". Its a very heartfelt "Get off my lawn" rant. This is a sentiment that comes from a time prior to the NBA lottery.
He clearly knows why they're losing and flat out disagrees with it primarily because of the impact of regular fans (a sentiment he even expressed back when he was a wapo columnist). Yes, the Wizards are doing what they should to win. But its also really shabby that the NBA puts teams in this situation.
Kornheiser is absolutely RIGHT that the one getting hurt is the casual fan. This is not in dispute. You all should acknowledge this clear trade off.
Fervent fans get the rationale, but a regular dude taking his son to a Wizards game for his birthday seeing Sarr on the bench will not. As a father previously in this situation like 15 years ago, trust me in this (Lebron sat out a Wizards game so it wasnt a wizard but still same same)
If your team is as bad as the Wizards, it’s not called “tanking”, it’s called “reality”. They are a bottom feeder. Have been for awhile and will continue to be one for awhile. Now, the Jazz? THAT’S tanking.
