He is 22 years old!!! This is a steal and he is needed now!! Brunson and Alverado are great, but you need someone like Sochan to lockup bigger guards, like Haliburton or Cunningham in Detroit. This a great pickup if he is used properly.
He’s already good defensively, you’ll see some Sochan, Bridges, OG, Diawara, Robinson stretches late in games and all play D even GTA mixing for some minutes together.
He really needs to improve his outside shooting, that is why the spurs couldn’t trade him for anything and just waived him. Opponents will just let him shoot. Knicks need more outside shooting. shamet is too small and not a great defender, McBride is hurt but he’s short and gets posted up. Clarkson is too inconsistent and is a sieve on defense. Knicks need wings that can shoot. Jeremy will not all of a sudden improve his shooting by the playoffs this year. In the playoffs he will get schemed off the floor. I really like him and the fans will love him but he’s a liability on offense right now. If the knicks had great shooters already on the team then it’s a differs story. At least the Knicks didn’t trade away anything for him and it’s a low cost low risk but potentially high reward move
You got it right. He is josh hart. And the knicks are probably thinking they will utilize the same shooting coach, that has improved josh 3 point shot, to work with jeremy.
I think sochan will be a league avg. 3pt.( 37%) shooter guaranteed Knicks have the best shooting coaches and staff. He will be hitting those corner 3's in no time.

Damn theyre definitely going to the finals and really challenge the Thunder but still lose. Sochan is a great talent if they give him confidence. He's not really a natural bench player either.
Soon enough time will tell. In the meantime there is no downside to picking up a 22 year old first round pick who didn't really fit his team and taking a chance? It is good to feel you are needed.
As a spurs fan the most surprising thing is we waived sochan instead of trading him. I hope he has better luck than some of our other former wonderkids like Lonie and Forbes
im going to miss jeremy, seeing him not wearing #10 in a spurs jersey wont look right but hopefully the knicks develop him more and help with his offensive growth
