Wade Baldwin nailed an game-winning midrange jumper at the buzzer to clinch an 83-85 victory for Fenerbahce against Panathinaikos at Telekom Center Athens on Friday night. A bruising, old-school battle between the last two EuroLeague champions offered fans an entertaining exchange of blows from start to finish.

Fenerbahce started strong and took a 19-25 lead into the second quarter, but Panathinaikos tightened up its defense to secure a 62-56 advantage after 30 minutes. What followed was a back-and-forth affair in the fourth quarter before Fenerbahce had the ball with 2.5 seconds left. Baldwin ended up beating the buzzer off an inbound play to seal the outcome.

Having grabbed its 11th win in 12 games, the Turkish side remained top of the standings with a 20-7 record. Meanwhile, Panathinaikos suffered its second straight defeat, dropping to 16-12.

Tarik Biberovic paced Fenerbahce with a career-high 26 points, having gone 6-for-7 from deep. Baldwin paired his 13 points with 9 assists, and Nicolo Melli downed 10 rebounds. As for the hosts, Juancho Hernangomez had 18 points and 12 rebounds, with Kendrick Nunn scoring 17 on his return from injury.

    Congrats Fenerbahce. Before mid 2000s teams were composed of 30-35% foreigner at most. Nowadays they are 80-90% foreigners. Neither Greek team looks like Greek team nor Turkish team look like Turkish. I don't know others but this affects my joy to watch basketball.
