SGA Speaks on Living Up to KD & Russ in OKC and His Sneaker Feud with Anthony Edwards

SGA Speaks on Living Up to KD & Russ in OKC and His Sneaker Feud with Anthony Edwards

Sports Illustrated’s Greg Cally sat down with reigning NBA MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander for an intimate one-on-one conversation about living up to the standard set by KD & Russell Westbrook, centering his family in his sneaker business and more.

Shai reflects on arriving in OKC amid championship expectations, why he never felt the need to “carry the torch” of past eras, and how that mindset allowed him to create his own identity as a player and leader. SGA also discusses the NBA’s new World vs USA All-Star format, the back and forth disses between himself and Anthony Edwards in their sneaker commercials, and why involving his family in his business ventures felt organic rather than strategic.

  1. SGA is a trash product that is continuously propped up by the league. No one except okc fans like this dude. Trash ball, trash fans.

  2. No Over-Thinking, No Attention Seeking, Just Genuine Family Man Doing what he loves! ♋️ Gang.. This ain’t the type Personality the world likes for their Hero, but fuck this 🌎.. Shai and Kawhi, simple , quiet, but Killers 😤🤞🏾❤️

  3. Living up to them? Respectfully as an okc player he’s surpassed them he got that team there first ring and I don’t think he’s better than Kevin Durant but he’s done more for the franchise

  4. I hate flopping and excessive FTs as much as everyone, but there's a popular saying: don't hate the player, hate the game

If the NBA would just fix the inconsistent and overbearing officiating, we'd be able to get a better understanding of how good Shai really is.

  5. It’d be cool if Westbrook came back and helped OKC win a title. And eliminate the Rockets in the process
