Flagg’s could be dramatically better.
Him, Lively(healthy), Kyrie, Christie and Marshall is a far more potent group than what Dallas was rolling out there in Luka’s 2nd year.
Cooper’s bench could be exceptional with Gafford, PJ, a good MLE pickup (Koby White?), a top 4 🤞Pick and a quality bargain basement pickup like
Marcus Smart.
Hell we could even pull a trade with Gafford and the golden state pick for a middle of the first round wing.
Infinite possibilities.
But the West is brutal.
Still thinking we are only a play-in team.

Luka is 20 times better than Flagg. In his rookie year, Luka actually played defense just as good as Flagg plays it. I don't think people truly understand how rare a player like Luka is. For the love of God, he took Powell, Brunson, Finney Smith, and Bullock to the Western Conference Finals.
Luka is 20 times better than Flagg. The people saying Cooper is better than Luka are just coping hard. Go look at Luka's rookie highlights compared to Flagg's. Luka was a lot better. He had eight triple doubles and hit game winning shots. Flagg is not nearly as clutch as Luka.
Whatever we did for Luka in regards of Team Building. Please do the total opposite!
Luka this year. 15-3 in clutch games. The Lakers are freaking 23-0 when leading at halftime. They are doing that with a ton of injuries. LeBron drama from hell with Clutch Sports. And with a roster that has $60+ million between just LeBron and Bronny.
And to answer the question directly — hell yeah, this Maverick's team is much better than Luka had in year 2. Do people forget that he took Brunson, Smith, Bullock, and Powell to the Western Conference Finals? It won't matter though. Luka is a rare player and Dallas will be rebuilding for 4-7 years. Maybe longer. Just because they say this is a good draft doesn't make it so and it might not translate to winning even if it is a good draft.
He is better than Luka. Not the offensive player yet, but a much better defender, a better team player, not a ball hog and not a winer to the refs a the time. Id take him all day long over Luka.

I’d say cooper has a much higher chance of winning an MVP. Luka will never win one.
I would add that when Luka first got to the league, it was also much harder for Dallas to get top free agents! I’m not saying it’s easy now, but it’s much easier! Also, I would say Luka was a harder player to find a co star due to how he plays. Cooper will fit with more players!

It's so funny how 90% of these comments are totally missing the point of this whole pod. It's not a debate on who is or was better between Coop and Luka, it's how the roster situation compares. And while the Mavs won't have their pick for Coop's sophomore year, much like with Luka, they at least have some sort of 1st rounder every year after that, which we can't say was the case at this time in Luka's career because we had sent out more 1sts for KP, who was recovering from an ACL tear and whom the Mavs immediately gave a max contract. It's a better situation for sure.

We have better situation today than when Luka was here. They didn't value their picks and they want to win right away. They made a lot of bad decisions especially early on roster wise. And they didn't have much patience in building their roster.
Small correction – the Mavs did not have Harrison Barnes going into Luka’s sophomore year. He was traded mid game during Luka’s rookie season.
