If they are subbing in Jake for LeBron almost all the time, I really don't think it brings them down all that much especially if it's the entire rest of the first unit maybe the exception of Hayes coming in for Ayton. LeBron playing a lot more with the second unit gives him the ability to dominate plus he can make the second unit players a lot better as well
If they can achieve top 5 or elite offense and they're 15th defensively they are a title contender, but I don't think they can get there without seriously changing what they are doing scheme wise
Trevor too pessimistic about everything. Luka ain't going back to the Mavs as long as it has the same ownership that traded him

I saw Luka drag a bunch of bums All the way to the Finals! Maybe, if All the team leaders had even a small modicum of belief they just might make it with an injury or two to the opponent. Luka almost broke his back carrying Kyrie to the finals! Maybe he's going to do that for LeBron!!!!
As the primary ballhandler, Luka needs to speed up the game. The Lakers at 85 FGAs per game are near dead last. Worse, Luka who shoots 45% takes 23 FGAs or nearly 30% of the shots. Bron & Luka are 20ppg scorers. They need 15-20 FGAs. DA, Rui, Marcus, & Jake need 6-10 FGAs to score 10+.
Now we got Kennard.
The Lakers play faster with Bron as the ballhandler. Bron likes to advance the ball asap.
He explained in Mind the Game that defenses need 10 seconds to set up. That's why Spoelstra runs plays in 6-10 seconds.
If the Lakers can get 95 FGAs per game, they can win more games even against playoff teams.
Won't matter much if the defense is crap.

Only things I've seen that work with this wonky season of injuries is. On the offensive end Luka works with Hayes better then Ayton. Lebron works better with Ayton. Rui needs to come off bench. Or be small ball 5 sometimes. AR is good everywhere on offense when hes in rhythm. Lebron is amazing in fast break. Smart is great everywhere as far as starting or off bench. Plays his roll no matter what it is. Vando is great in spurts. Jake does alot of things good. Not great yet. We have a 3 sniper now in kennard. We gotta figure out how to utilize him more. I think if we had a really good center that can defend at a high level and pretty good at offense and this teams ceiling would be waaaay higher. I think Trevor is correct. We are only gonna be so good at defense. So offense needs to be the sole focus. But officiant offense will the way we get there to be actual world beaters.
Even if he hasn’t played all season they have him for cheap next season and can’t let him get healthy and then have a good 3&D wing next year for the vet min, Lakers are idiots punt on the season but don’t go get a good asset for next year on the cheap

Ayton is the low motor player Phoenix and Portland reporters said he was and will not change.
27:57 lakers had AD, Dwight, and Javele on the floor at the same time a few times. That was a crazy good defensive team. Caruso, KCP, Danny Green, and Avery Bradley were great on ball defenders too. Bron was still the chase down monster and could defend at a high level in spurts (last game against clippers before the shutdown). Should have ran it back.
