Why Was Reed Sheppard on the Bench?! Rockets Collapse Again

Why Was Reed Sheppard on the Bench?! Rockets Collapse Again

The Houston Rockets had this game won.
Up double digits at home.
Nearly a 90% win probability.
Then another fourth quarter collapse.
In this episode, we break down the Rockets blowing a 13–14 point lead, giving up 35 in the 4th, and watching Kawhi Leonard drop 19 in the final frame while Houston completely unraveled.
And the bigger questions:
• Why wasn’t Reed Sheppard on the floor when the Rockets needed a three?
• Why are the turnovers STILL a problem (21 again)?
• Where did the rebounding edge go without Steven Adams?
• Why does this team suddenly struggle to protect home court?
• And why hasn’t Kevin Durant fully stabilized late-game offense like many expected?
The Rockets started the season looking efficient and disciplined. Now?
High turnovers.
Low assist-to-turnover ratio.
Struggling to reach 110 in a high-scoring NBA.
Blowing games in the fourth.
This isn’t just one bad loss. It’s a trend.
Over the last stretch at home, Houston has slipped from one of the league’s best home teams to dropping key games against Boston, Charlotte, San Antonio, and now the Clippers.
At some point, it stops being “just a bad night” and starts becoming identity.
Is this just a rough patch… or is this who the Rockets are?

  1. Reed is so overrated just because he can score sometimes in bunches. He’s can’t play defense and he can barely dribble the ball basically.

  2. ime losing the locker room? whats our teams strength at this point? all these defensive utility players cant play defense, and our offense is atrocious if someone doesn't have a big game.

  3. At this point, Udoka enjoys being outcoached. We have fumbled too many games since the Warriors' playoff loss.

  4. I think the coach is right not to have Reed in for the last 2 seconds , it's basically catch and shoot and Reed's height is a disadvantage. Over all the Rockets are hard to watch and W/L prediction.

  5. Capela is not a replacement for Adams. Okogie played 10 minutes. 0pts 0reb 1to 4fouls. Durant 8TO. He has had a lot of turnovers this seasons. Ime is a big problem. To me this season is for learning because we can't compete with the elite teams.

  6. You have to let Reed cook. Why does he keep pulling him destroying his confidence? When his confidence gets going he can light it up. Let him play through some mistakes.

  7. Joe Mazzulla being hired by Boston changed everything by winning a Championship after Ime Udoka got fired. There was no chance Ime Udoka would've won a Championship, being so hard headed in benching players and being low IQ on offense.

  8. Udoka is out of his element. He is not a very smart coach. How do you keep Sengun on the floor when a critical basket is needed and that basket is a three pointer. And Sengun did not disappoint, because he still managed to screw up the last basket by trying to get to the ball, as it was inbounded to possibly get another assist, or heaven forbid throw up another of his bricks. He runs toward the in bounder and manages to have the ball go off of him to the shooter. It's not the first time he has messed up a last second basket attempt. He always wants to be the hero and always fails. He should not even have been on the bench. His unlucky as needed to have been made to face the crowd, turning his back on the floor. And this new schtick of his trying to position players on the floor and initiate offense in hilarious. It's all done to give the fans the the appearance he is running the offense. He does not know what he is doing and it is obvious. And for the most part they ignore him. They know he is just pretending to know what he is doing. And no one but Stonewall tries to make sense of it. It's pathetic how he tries to embellish his roll on this team. When Steven Adam was around, there was always someone to clean up the aisles, he spilled things on (and usually it was the ball). The Rockets need to trade this guy before everyone else learns what I know about his play and his value tanks. He is just a product of over zealous fans and clueless podcasters and our teams bad luck..
