We break down Tom Ricketts’ comments from Cubs Spring Training, where he said the team should win the division if they execute and stay healthy — but made it clear that the ultimate goal is bringing more World Series titles to Chicago.
We also dig into reports of the Phillies having a potential early agreement with an 11-year-old from Venezuela, plus other big stories from around MLB.
In Chicago news, Dan tracks a developing local story making headlines about a sex dungeon.
We take a moment to remember civil rights leader Jesse Jackson and legendary actor Robert Duvall, both of whom passed away this week.
And of course, we’ve got your daily Olympic update to round out the show.

  1. The RSN model made sense when media was controlled by regional restrictions like antennas and cable companies but that's not how content is consumed anymore. The cable companies are in their death throws and only being kept alive by the artificial suppression of sports broadcasting by regional restrictions. What Manfred is talking about or what the NHL has done with ESPN+ or the NFL with Sunday ticket without artificial blackouts is 100% the future of sports broadcasting. There's absolutely no reason in the streaming age you shouldn't be able to watch any game you want at any time without buying some bloated cable package to do it. It's just a matter of how long the cable companies can keep their feet on the throat of the consumer.

  2. Hey boys. Speaking of Robert Duvall movies another great one The Judge Duvall and Robert Downy Jr. awesome. Love your show.

  3. The Jesse Jackson skit on In Living Color with the children’s books, was a classic. Green eggs and the government cheese😂😂😂😂 Too funny

  4. I’m sorry Dan. You’re the sh1t, no doubt. But if the Cubs suck, regardless of their budget, private network or not, I ain’t gonna watch ‘em. I’m with Matt. We still boys, tho. 💯

  5. The pitch clock is fantastic !! What would Mike Hargrove do today ? Putting the runner on second to start extra innings is TERRIBLE !! I also believe a manager still should have the option to bring in a pitcher to only pitch to one batter.

  6. Interesting tidbit in today’s Trib column by “The Jockey”, Kershaw had a 4.62 ERA in 41 post season games, Lester had a 2.51 ERA in 26 post season games, Sully went on to say that “some athletes handle pressure better than others “

  7. Forgot about the Frank Thomas omission, that happened on the Chris Getz watch, which happened during the Omar Vizquel disgrace and the switch hitter debacle

  8. As I recall, didn’t the Tigers start 35-5, but played .500 the rest of their way. Then got hot enough again to win the WS ?

  9. Great Santini, a phenomenal movie , performance, and an even better book, he did Days of Thunder after taking a pass on Godfather III, in a salary dispute.

  10. Just recently watched Lonesome Dove for the first time and Duvall was brilliant in it.
