But here’s the kicker, the most crucial part and the final piece of basic intelligence you need to successfully create a bomb squad. DONT SIGN THE EXTENSION. When you decline the extension you are selecting to “test” free agency as an alternative, except in your case it won’t be a trial in any way because you’ve followed my 2 step blueprint. When you enter free agency you will then select WHATEVER team you choose without having to gut the roster via a max contract trade in an attempt to match salaries. And I’m sorry, but i lied earlier. You are required to use your brain in a simple function one more time. When you choose you new team You will have to sign a new contract. When you sign your contract, just be mindful and not take max money. The new cba will allow you to form this team, but you won’t be able to create a dynasty because it’ll be blown up shortly for cap space. Getting your money while not maxing out leaves room for resigns and additions without sacrificing talent. Step1: sign your first contract and being smart on when you sign and length of contract. Step2: be a man, play out the contract completely, decline extension, walk in free agency to the team of your choosing. Caveat: when to decide on your new team, avoid max dollar to ensure this team can stay together for as long as possible and leaving room for changes if needed.
