Do you think Michael Porter Jr.'s recent struggles will impact his trade value? Would you want the Nets to offer him an extension this summer?
MPJ's recent struggles will NOT impact his trade value. The Nets should not offer him a new contract, they should hope the Bucks get a decent draft pick and trade for it by using MPJ
There's a lot of players who have a bit of a stretch of mid season struggles, especially guys who are tough shot makers, but I do wonder if MPJ was really motivated in trying to get his first all star this year to prove doubters wrong, and since he didn't, he doesn't have the same motivation since he really isn't playing for much anymore this season.
When Pascal Siakam gets selected from a team with a worse record then the Nets then record should not have factored in at all. Motivation is definitely missing in MPJ's game since the snub. He has nothing to play for now other then pride which is another reason the Nets should shut him down for the season.
I’m glad MPJ hasn’t been as good in the clutch this year, we’d have at least 5 more wins if he hit more game winners for us and out of the tank race. That doesn’t take away from his production the rest of the game helping us stay competitive against most teams with him playing at an all star level. I think he hits more of those clutch shots next to another main option where he wouldn’t be drawing all of the defensive attention. His recent slump may just be due to lack of motivation knowing we’re not competing for anything anymore and what this season is really about. I’d be glad if we can shut down MPJ and Claxton at least against tanking teams for the rest of the season and have them focus on next season instead after their great performances this year.
