Why the Stakes Are High For Jokic & the Denver Nuggets | DNVR Nuggets Podcast

The Denver Nuggets are slumping despite Nikola Jokic’s historic 2-game run. Jamal Murray had a great first 3 months but, as always, his season will be defined by the next 3 months. Aaron Gordon’s health may determine his future in Denver. Peyton Watson’s free agency looms. And Julian Strawther must become something between now and the end of the year. The DNVR Nuggets podcast discusses just what’s at stake for the Nuggets this season.

  1. At this point, it's obvious the kroenkes care more about money than winning. That's their right, but what evidence is there that they're willing to spend to win?

  2. If Denver loses the chip this year… Adalman out, Gordon and Cam Johnson out… Gordon is hurt way too much to help this team

  3. I got to Denver in 1975. Charlie Johnson was the Broncos quarterback and the Nuggets were full of promise. we had The Skywalker to compete against Dr J , Iceman & all the ABA NBA rivals made games incredibly entertaining & cheap!… Lyle Alzado & Broncos were becoming the greatest they had ever been & Denver was the center of the sports world cus the DenverBears baseball team were awesome in triple A w/ Boom Boom & the boys & the Rockies Hockey team had Doug Favel in goal & Lanny McDonald , Rob Ramage & Chico joined the team shortly all skating in those years as well! Bonus was lots of snow in mountains made skiing epic as well!!

  4. I’m pretty over hearing Adelman doesn’t want to/isn’t good at motivating and holding players accountable. Welcome to life! We all have things we would rather not have to do. Most of us don’t get paid millions of dollars to avoid them and have media coverage trying to run coverage for us.

  5. good questions there in the last segment about 1st or 2nd round exit. Let me help you out here so you can start thinking about the options earlier. There is zero chance that the Nuggets are getting to WCF. And Jamal will have to be moved if someone wants that contract, which nobody will. So you have to ask the real question… what do we do with Jokic, or he may ask that question himself, since he did not resign the contract yet. F around and find out, Nuggets owners/decision makers.

  6. Lmao saying everyone but Murray and Jokic need to play defense is a ridiculous mindset. They ALL need to play defense..

  7. Adelman has to go: he doesn't have the instinct or experience to be anything but rigid in substitutions and timid with challenges and timeouts. He's a paint-by-numbers coach, and a team can't win a championship with that kind of coaching.

  8. Been saying all season and seems like yall are starting to think this too, but Adelman is a major problem for this team. He’s not bad, but he’s just not a championship caliber savant rookie HEAD coach. Great assistant, but not the guy to lead you to a championship. Once again Jokic left to carry an extra load. Last year it was depth, this year it’s coaching and tactics, hence why they’re less clutch with a more talented team.

  9. It's going to fine. Everyone sucks in the NBA, it's about momentum and health. Gordon is chronically hurt, count him out, not reliable. Watson is key.
