SPURS POSTCAST: 25-POINT COMEBACK!!! Wembanyama & Spurs rally to STUN Kawhi Leonard & Clippers
Casey Viera and NBA champion Devin Brown break down Victor Wembanyama and the San Antonio Spurs’ 116-112 victory Saturday over the Kawhi Leonard and the Los Angeles Clippers, rallying from a 25-point deficit in the third quarter.
San Antonio’s Frenchman notched a team-leading 27 points, 10 rebounds and four blocks in 22 minutes of work just 24 hours removed from playing 40 minutes in a Thursday win over the Detroit Pistons.
Julian Champagnie poured in 20 points, 17 in the third quarter, while De’Aaron Fox added 19 points and nine assists.
The victory marks the top come-from-behind victory for San Antonio and clinches their first play-in berth since the 2021-22 season.
Kawhi Leonard recorded a game-high 30 points for Los Angeles.

Carter Bryant starting to come of age all that training with the guard whisperer is starting to pay off…love Jeremy but he's starting to make me feel a lot better after letting him go…thank the basketball gods okc didn't get him in the draft and we did…
Shaq was goin at Chuck postgame. Spurs can’t score huh? 😂 love their crew
Don't worry Wenby he just needs to get in shape more remember he didn't play the second half of the season last year and his first year was pure adrenaline in France they don't play as many games in a year that the NBA does so this grind is new for him he'll get in shape has nothing to do with this blood clot or his heart he just plays hard on defense and offense every game so think about that amen
GO SPURS GO!
Victor lied. He cried because he grateful for being on this team is what I thought. I think Victor loves the game and at that moment he was overcome with joy to the point of tears. I think he absolutely loves the game and his team.
What you do not realize is that Wemby is emotional but strong. He will not collapse and will not step back
I thought about the unthinkable with Wemby too. I’ll pray for his health
I know I should get over the way Kawhi, guided by his Uncle Dennis, left the Spurs. It's a business. He did what he did to get what he wanted. But I can't get over it. I don't like Kawhi and his "aspirations." We loved him. He rejected us. Pop is right in saying we should stop booing Kawhi. But I can't. I'll boo Kawhi every time I see him until I die.
If he felt like that any time other than an emotional, come from behind win on the 2nd night of a b2b after he played about 9 min above his season avg agajnst the physical top wins team in the league? It would be concerning. I'm sure he was exaggerating as if he really showed he was disoriented to the point of almost fainting he would have not been playing. The medical staff would have pulled him.
Castle and Jules inability to make late free throws to seal the game worries me.
I can see free throw shooting being an issue in playoffs down the stretch
My takeaways:
1. You learn more about a team in adversity than in a blowout. The guys off a back to back with a title contender to come out flat is reasonable to expect. This is where Mitch deserves credit for creating this culture and getting more and more out of guys. They could’ve folded the tent and said hey it’s a schedule loss. He has high expectations and they created the intensity that caused the avalanche of clipper miscues.
2. I have a hunch if it were the playoffs Harrison would play.. This might be Mitch seeing what an increase in minutes does for CB does going forward.
3. The free throws yikes. Gotta clean those up. In the playoffs where there’s few blowouts past the first round, you have to take advantage of fouls and make those free throws. Missing them in critical moments can cost you games or a series. Guys have to clean it up plain and simple.
4. GSG
When the playoffs roll around…it's imperative that CB gets some real time and that Fox…keeps his game inside the arc! Fox is so lethal…just not at that 3 point line..when he's efficient..we are unbeatable! Mitch..gotta give CB more run…that Forward position/big wing is crucial…it's all about getting STOPS!
We are CLEARLY going for that overall #1 seed! WOW…that could be the difference!
Carter Bryant just retired Harrison Barnes.
Listen Great win and a tremendous effort for sure. But do the spurs need a consistent high level scorer? Cause in the play offs, someone has to be that consistent 28 pt plus scorer
If they figured out how to win games against prime opposition then they are true contenders.
Cb is officially in the rotation 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉😂😂😂😂😂
My only criticism would be to Casey. Due respect, you are a very thoughtful guy and I appreciate your commentary on this Podcast. When Wemby said he "I'm about to pass out". I think he was emphasizing that he was tired from 2 days of physical play. I wouldn't take it literally. Devin was trying to steer you in the right direction, but you questioned Wemby's health. Bringing up his blood clot? That is way over the top my friend. If that is where your brain goes, you should look to others for cues. You definitely overthink things, and perhaps when it comes to such serious takes as bringing up his deep vein thrombosis. That's the kind of comment you need to keep in your head. That is a serious health issue to bring up, and super highly improbable based on what Wemby said and how he said it. Food for thought. I'm sure it came from a well meaning place. Keep on commenting, I think you have a big heart, and are a Great Spurs fan.
Love Castle…but this gane to me was even more proof as to why Fox needs to run the offense…Castle had some ballhandling turnovers that a PG should never have…and thats the pressure we are gonna see in the playoffs…when Fox was in control, our offense was moving better
Carter Bryant is HIM!
Wemby played his heart out…but we need to stop playing him short minutes…he is 22…us treating him like 40 year old duncan is why he cant get his stamina up…if you always play low minutes, when the time comes to play heavy minutes, your body wont be acclimated
Some kind of a letter for Victor and what I'll remember from this game against the Clippers:
In a professional basketball team, I think that genuine love, support and care for one another are rare. The roster of the Spurs have them and Victor has played no small part in this tremendous quality since he arrived in SA. Genuine love, support and care are rare because of the business nature of the NBA, which is so pervasive. Business, when it comes first, can easily have an adverse impact on genuine feelings within a team, despite certain outward appearances that are supposed to hide these adverse impacts and usually resemble public relations performances.
Of course, friendship between players does exist in all teams, but collective love, support and care within an entire team are way different.
The current players of San Antonio are the ones who have created and nurtured these precious feelings, and so they deserve to enjoy this powerful collective bond that can make a HUGE difference at the highest level.
Credit is also due to Pop, Mitch and the front office whose part of the job it is to contribute to protect these feelings because the players decided it would be THEIR WAY to make progress, together. The players are always the main driving force behind this collective bond.
Victor, despite his young age, reminds me of older leaders who understand the real power of solidarity, love and mutual care within a small group of people. More than anything else, more than any win, Vic has instilled in his team his own sense of mutual care, collective struggle and individual effort to the point of passing out, just like last night against the Clippers. And THIS is his most remarkable feat, and strength.
My thought was the Detroit game took a lot of him, and he didn't expect Brook Lopez playing like that. Basically, forcing him play with more effort than expected.
Wemby was actually mentally exhausted… Emotional yes, but
Not "emotional" like most people think.
Great Mental Focus by the SPURS! GO SPURS GO!
Those are none athletes whos commenting, they will never understand 😊🎉❤
