Casey Viera and NBA champion Devin Brown break down a 145-120 San Antonio Spurs victory Sunday over Kevin Durant and the rival Houston Rockets, headlined by a season-best offensive showing from Victor Wembanyama and company.
San Antonio’s Frenchman totaled a game-high 29 points, eight rebounds and four blocks in 30 minutes of work.
De’Aaron Fox recorded 20 points and a team-leading 10 assists while Stephon Castle netted 23 points.
Keldon Johnson (20) and Dylan Harper (19) contributed to 61 points off the bench for San Antonio, who collectively hit 21 of 40 threes as a team to hit their season-high point total.
Durant led Houston with 23 points in the defeat.

My mindset / expectations have changed for the spurs. In the beginning of this season, I thought that the Spurs might lose these games when playing against the good teams. Now I actually expect the Spurs to win every game.

Spurs should steamroll the rest of the season with the exception of 2 games vs the Nuggets which will require serious effort. I hope they demolish the Suns.
They made the Rockets look like old and rusty darts, not rockets. Spurs almost start playing like a blend of the 2018 Warriors and the 2000 Lakers… Well, it’s not playoffs time yet, so let’s wait and see. But yes, as Casey and Devin said, their ball movement is something, so fast, so fluid and usually efficient, in part because they are so young and dynamic.
It will be very interesting to see if the Spurs can maintain this style and overall pace of efficient ball movement during the playoffs.
Against Houston, it was really an all-offense game with 265 points total, so different from games such as the one in NYC or even Detroit. I think it’s because both teams are a little tired and start thinking about the forthcoming playoffs and, naturally, want to avoid injuries. So they don’t play full speed all the time, are a tiny bit less intense on defense, unless it’s a game to prove something or go higher in the standings. In this game specifically, you started feeling a little bit of this pre-playoffs atmosphere at times…
Spurs have more talent than Boston and also the best player in the series, Vic.
Also Tatum is nowhere near ready to be successful against the Spurs in this rare form.
Spurs would take it in 5 or 6 barring injury.
Next year would be a closer contest between the 2.
