I interviewed Keon Ellis for the Walter Cronkite School of journalism and mass media at Arizona State University. He told me that the media and people outside have no idea what's going on. He said he only looked at stuff on Twitter but that was it. That media and fans always got stuff wrong and have no idea what is happening. He didn't want to elaborate more because he probably didn't care what people think and say that much, unlike Russ. But yeah, it's a similar tone.
Also Matt George got cooked.
One thing's for sure, us Kings fans respect you James! You've clearly explained here and in the past that you are accountable and passionate for yourself, and for the Kings! Not only that, but you put out great reports most importantly!
Westbrook is not a leader on the Kings. Oh he wants that look as the worst team in the league. He never fit and he’s trash! I don’t want him back either. Washed!
I completely understand Russ. He’s saying that the kings media / media is affecting people on the team and and are writing things that aren’t accurate. But I think this is exactly what Russ is talking about — “things got weird” … that headline or subheading itself already puts Russ in a bad light and paints him as being weird. Things didn’t get weird. A player, Russ, is frustrated about people not knowing or seeing the work they do, comment on the work they do negatively.
Get rid of Westbrick. Always arguing with media/ fans. Just get rid of his clown act.
The conflict between writers, reporters, and players has always been there. However, I stick with Russ on this one. Report on the game, not the players personally. It takes away from professionalism and makes it personal. This is specifically for Matt George. I will leave the same comment under Matt's podcast.
James…keep doing your thing, but you've had a few times as well when you've made it about the player and not the game. I write this respectfully. Keep doing your thing bro.

I don’t agree with Ham on everything, but I respected him for saying exactly what he was thinking to Russ….a few of the other media guys (George, Biederman) were shook, voices cracking, quiet, all of a sudden nothing to say….

It's nice to get a peak behind the curtains every once in a while and get reminded how the sausage is made. It brings different nuances and angles back into focus/perspective.
Doug's comments were amazing. Young coach, but you can see he has tons of off court wisdom that he imparts to a team. As he develops and has an actual core that is consistent, he too with his coaching decisions will become more consistent.
Seeing certain media getting called out allows me to come to my own conclusions about them just as they fairly come to conclusions about the team as a whole.
Seeing former players leave this team and be utilized completely differently and players out of league who talk about their time in SAC does lend some credence to some media being a little messy and stirring the pot.
All in all, an absolute banger.

Max should’ve had more minutes. Eubanks isn’t better but he ate minutes. Precious needs to be resigned. Trade monk, Sabonis, DeRozen, LeVine. Get what you can draft capital wise. This offseason is important for this organization’s future.
It’s easy to talk behind your keyboard about these players. But won’t say it to their face! A lot of these media people are cowards!

Put on 15lbs of solid muscle this offseason. Ik if he approaches the offseason with purpose and works on fundamentals and his body he can be a starter in the west and one day an allstar. Vlade Divac & brook Lopez chimera. The kings need another 1st in this draft. I believe in the GM & Doug Christie is a good coach. This a young team with borderline washed up vets. They’re supposed to be losing. Precious is a strong body at PF and should back up a Caleb Wilson or Cam Boozer. If you indeed get the 1st pick AJ Debantsa. I’d take all three players before Peterson. If you get another first I’d go AJ Debantsa, Isaiah Evans, Dame Sarr in the second. This is such a deep draft I may even get a third first round pick to make 4 overall.
Gotta respect the Hammer for not folding and staying true and confident when Russ tried to get on him.

I've been trying to spin this MF into some sort of positive for quite some time, & like you said the results just haven't made dollars sense.
With that being said, I completely understand where Brodie is coming from. Lest we forget only a few weeks ago a person had threatened his life via a personal email address. I'm angry about a couple hobo dope fiends taking an honest swing at mine, so to be in the tax bracket he is & the public eye plateau, I would be understandably less likely to be accommodating to negativity of any sort.
But to the point, y'all (the media) are allowed access to areas fans don't on a consistent basis. I can only judge or begin to formulate a read on our guys just from their body language & how the rest of the team reacts to them during games. To put an end to the speculation, The Locksmith rarely watches interviews. I learned that pretty early on when I used to watch Cowboys games with my Aunty or just football games in general with my Granddad; when they whip off the helmet, they're a completely different person. (I still remember the 1st time I actually SAW Emmitt Smith. Or this one time Coach Prime returned a punt for a game-winning TD, but it didn't count because they forward passed. After the game he comes out in a collared shirt & bifocals during the late 90s when baggy was "in".)
However, I digress.
I don't even listen to Sacramento sports talk these days since the new platforms have launched; it's the most unbiased & thorough Sacramento Kings coverage I'd need for the day. And assuming these outlets don't suffice, I read sports articles during breakfast, lunch & dinner, kind of like reading a newspaper. I say all that to say the media does have a strong say on how people perceive players simply off that basis alone. Like that one guy who did play-by-play & recently came back into town & his constant persecution of one of our former franchise cornerstones, it can at times be in excess. This isn't directed at 🔨 just simply stating a fact.
However, the manner in which Russ decided to word the entire thing got me thinking, since with the invention of the internet, we've also invented a 24/7 365 suggestion box that routinely gets stuffed to max capacity. Everyone has a take; everyone has always had an opinion, & my title of Armchair GM is the byproduct of a year in which I went 1st/1st/3rd/10th (out of 12) in my fantasy football leagues. But in all honesty it made me a bit self-conscious about how I approach talking about sports since sports psychology has always intrigued me & I attempt to put myself into their shoes or their minds before laying into them since my sports fandom previously was much of the latter than the former. It's another reason why I don't comment on vacations or wine tasting or any of their forms of philanthropy since that's their personal life & the one-sided platonic relationship these dudes & I share only stretches within the confines of the stadium in which they ply their trade for that given night.
I'm going to attempt to side-step the "maybe he meant" paragraph of this write-up & again just state the obvious. A lot has happened this season, not much good, & it's getting towards the end of the day when these dudes get to punch the clock, slide down the back of a brontosaur, & take some well-needed R&R. Players are frustrated, media are frustrated, fans can take their ah home, & there are still the playoffs in which we won't be participating. I say let them vent; that way we're not going into next season with any animosity towards each other. On any side.

These comments are crazy, is everybody here forgetting this team is on pace to be one of the worst Kings teams of all time? I don't think the media has been calling out players enough and all I've heard Matt say for weeks "is let the young guys play". There is no reason that a 38 year old Westbrook should be taking 15, 20+ shots a game and trying to win games whenever the season is already over.
