The Trayce Jackson-Davis Situation Is Confusing
The Toronto Raptors made a relatively quiet move at the NBA trade deadline when they acquired Trayce Jackson-Davis. On the surface, the cost appeared modest, but the full picture tells a different story. In order to make the move possible, the Raptors first had to move off Ochai Agbaji’s contract to get under the luxury tax, a deal that cost them a second-round pick. They then sent another second-round pick to acquire Jackson-Davis himself, meaning the team effectively spent two second-round picks to bring him to Toronto.
At the time, the move made sense. The Raptors needed additional frontcourt depth and Jackson-Davis looked like a player who could help address that need. He even showed some promise early, delivering a strong performance in his first game with the team. But since then, his role has quickly disappeared. Despite continued injuries in the Raptors’ frontcourt — including missed time from Collin Murray-Boyles — Jackson-Davis has struggled to find consistent minutes and has even spent time in the G-League.
In this video, I take a closer look at the situation and try to make sense of it. Why did the Raptors trade for a player they don’t seem willing to use? What does this say about the team’s roster decisions, and where do Bobby Webster and Darko Rajaković factor into all of it? With draft capital spent and frontcourt depth still a concern, the Trayce Jackson-Davis situation in Toronto is becoming increasingly confusing.

RAPTORS HAVE A DARKO PROBLEM
Raptors need a better coach. Id keep him as development coach but we need a real head coach. Darko's rotations especially in the 2nd half, mainly in the 4th quarter are questionable. In my opinion he is out coached by teams above 500 or in the 10 ten in the league.
You would think he'd get more minutes with CMB being injured.
Darko even put mogbo instead of trayce a couple games ago. I was like… the fuckk?? I get mogbo is a great defender but still. Get trayce some minutes
We need a new coach.
Insurance policy, but it would be better for him to get played before having to officially used your Insurance policy.
The front office obviously has no direction. Nothing new honestly
It’s not even his fault. He does the little things and is a smart player, Darko just refuses to give specific guys good opportunity. Like even Jamison should be getting more minutes.
Yes because he sucks
Hey Fred is in town today 😁
Play him for runs and defense against the biggs on o try other teams , when they go to biggs put TJD, poltel, Scottie,on with 2 of the better defense players that game watch them shut down lanes no easy hoops and offensive rebounds more chances
Didn’t Darko & Trayce said he was in G League for much needed conditioning? Likely while also learning Raptor Offence / Defence? Fact they’re also playing Dick / Mogbo again it seems it’s the usual strategy to give last changes before bigger rotation changes so one feels overstepped when those changes come. Trayce mentioned he didn’t even practice much with Warriors so the aforementioned makes most sense. 🤷🏽 +Yakub, RJ, Battle, Mamu need the minutes as they try to continue building chemistry or make changes. Give new player mid-season major minutes could disrupt a lot of things in risky ways.
Just another case of Darko being a shit coach is what I'm gathering here
Fire Bobby the accountant
Thank you …l thought l was the only one thinking this. DARKO NEEDS TO GO….not able to take these boys to the next level.
If there a time to trade for 2026 2nd rounder this is time to off load players. Horrible trade for raptors we gave 2 2nds in the deepest draft in NBA history, for a player thats not a center & he's not playing, #ChristianAnderson##MorezJohnsonJr# #PaulMcneilJr# #JosephTugler##MeleekThomas##HenriVeesaar# are looking promising, It depends on who raptors lose.
The Problems doean't belong to the Trace Jackso Davies & teammates, but on the whole coaching staff!!!. It is possibly the WORST I've ever seen!
There's probably a reason they are not using him, just like at golden state. Your not on the inside and you can't see practices etc…
Raps are training him!
He's bit ready!
We are not in contention!
Relax kids
Could not agree more!
I Like Darko but can’t understand the reasoning unless he is seeing something in practice that we are not.
Although It’s starting to look a lot like yhe Chris Boucher. Treatment
