I noticed when they didn’t call a timeout early, and only call a timeout to take players out Keefe saw a cheap easy way to lose. The cost of his plan was look at the stain it puts on us.
I don’t think anyone is saying Kobe’s 81 isn't impressive; if anything, the fact that it took 20 years and a record-breaking night at the line to finally eclipse it just shows how legendary he was. Even Bam would probably tell you Kobe’s record is superior , especially considering how much more physical that era was. Records are meant to be broken, but a new record doesn't diminish the old one—it validates it. It’s like Usain Bolt: if a future sprinter breaks his world record because they have next-gen, advanced shoes, we don’t say they cheated. We still give Bolt the kudos because he set a record that the future had to evolve just to reach. You can't have the new milestone without the original one serving as the blueprint. Rest in peace Legend Mr Kobe Bryant❤
It wasn’t the scoring that was the biggest deal – it was the pathetic double and triple teaming at the end of the game like a 4th grade YMCA team guarding that one tall kid. Where were any defensive adjustments in the first quarter!?! And more importantly, where was any pride or toughness? Call me petty, but I’d have taken a flagrant 2 on Bam by halftime just to not be a part of that embarrassment late in the game.
