How Tanking Caused The Bam Adebayo 83 Point Game

Bam Adebayo just scored 83 points for the Miami Heat against the Washington Wizards, and tanking is partially to blame

  1. Intentionally losing is definitely worse. It goes against everything sports are supposed to be about. Jordan and Kobe would have never done that. We are all just so used to it by now. Both are awful though.

  2. Everyone mad miami fouled to get points but not mad Washington did the same thing to stop them instead of playing defense

  3. Tanking is worse IMHO. Intentionally losing is dogshit to fans that paid for tickets. Regardless if it will be beneficial to the franchise.

  4. This shit is why the NBA is absolutely awful nowadays. The people I know who actually care about sports don't even care about basketball right now.

  5. There's nothing wrong with what Bam did. Bam had a great first half (43 pts). In third, he kept it going. So in the 4th, with the game out of reach, they decided to let Bam go for a scoring record. I remember when Embiid scored 70 and the Sixers sat him early in fourth and the crowd booed because they wanted him to go for the record. Miami chose not to sit him…

  6. Bam had 62 points through three quarters without doing anything out of the ordinary. He shot more than usual because the team needed him to shoot more than usual with the next three scoring options out. Good for him and the team for getting him the record in the fourth.

  7. Don't be a hater. They are an injured low ranked team and bam been that guy for awhile now it's just people are taking notice. Give the man his flowers. You don't want me to score 83 stop me without fouling cuz if I'm 6'9 250 with the skills of a guard in coming hard every night especially against a Anthony Davis less squad

  8. Make it so the bottom teams don’t get an advantage. The play in teams and teams that finish just outside of the play in should get the highest lottery odds. That would keep teams playing harder for longer. It would make the middling teams get the stronger draft picks, and although it would hurt the bottom teams, maybe they would push to get the best record possible or sign players in free agency that would make them more competitive to try to get to those better draft odds.

  9. If the league awards any of the tanking teams a top 4 pick they are complicit. We all know it’s rigged so just give Atl the top pick followed by the bucks etc

  10. Records are meant to be broken and set. It's an empty stat and a cool piece of trivia, because there were no stakes in the game. Were they even playing basketball? But shoot, I've got no problem about Bam doing it. It's the how he got there that is cringe-worthy.

  11. 1st… there are a lot of teams tanking and not a lot of players scoring 50+ don't hate on Bam for it! Sure, the Heat pushed 4 it, but he earned it.
2nd… here's a wild idea to stop tanking… instead of expanding the league, reduce the number by 2, add more to the G league and the 2/4 worse teams go to the G league, and other 2/4 go up. You still get a big chance for that coveted no1 pick, but you spend a year or 2 in the G league!

  12. Bam beat Kobe’s record and some of y’all so annoying and be complaining and whining about it. STFU

  13. Miami is the #1 anti-tank team. This is legit how bad a tanking team is and the Wizards didn't know what to do besides fouling him. Bam did the NBA a favor.

  14. 40 free throws is gross 🤮. I can’t believe anyone would applaud this. If he did this against the pistons or spurs with 10-15 free throws then that’s completely different . Getting help from the refs and playing 50% of a game that was already won against a team that obviously didn’t care is corny

  15. Bam got off to a great start and at some point early in the second half, it was about seeing how high Bam could go. Wizards being in the tank taints this a little.

  16. The NBA needs to get rid of the draft. Let the players decide what organization they want to play for. Set a hard cap. Teams would no longer have a reason to tank. The teams would have to build elite organizations from top to bottom.
