Stephon Castle DID IT AGAIN!
Stephon Castle showed once again why his defense is becoming elite. In last night’s Celtics vs Spurs game, Castle got under Jaylen Brown’s skin with relentless on-ball pressure, forcing tough shots and disrupting the offense. It felt very similar to the way he frustrated Cade Cunningham a few weeks ago.
Castle’s defensive instincts, physicality, and confidence are quickly making him one of the most annoying defenders for star players to deal with. If he keeps locking down top scorers like this, the Spurs may have found another defensive cornerstone for the future.

Should have Stephon Castle been called for a foul? Should Jaylen Brown have been ejected? is Area 51 becoming one of the best defensive duo's in the NBA? Thanks for watching and GO SPURS GO!
Lu Dort for example is a dirty player… Steph Castle play physical and sometimes a little too physical, but never dirty.
And btw This one was a flop, he didn't pushed him, JB tripped on his right foot.
Sure Castle's hand was on JB, which is legal D but he never pushed him away
Outside of that I really don't think Spurs played great D during this game, including Wemby. I agree with Coach Mitch on that, the D was pretty sloppy.
It all seems to be coming to a head, Jaylen Brown's head to be precise. The Olympics snub, not being in the regular season discussion, the media attention to Tatum's return. If a (soft) foul committed by a non-star player like Vassell the referee must be disrespecting me too. That's why he couldn't let it go. I think most players already know they can complain and get favorable calls later on during the game, and the Celtics staff will make sure to remind him of that.
Spurs! Win Big Time! Playoffs Are Coming 🏀🏆
Send this video to Steven A Smith!!! 😂
Stephon Castle Big Time D' Awesome! 🏀🏆
Celtics fan base: hold your players accountable for their actions. JB was shoving his own players and security to get back to the ref. Man deserved the ejection.
Stop this BS about the other ref not having the authority to make the call. He saw JB approaching the head ref aggressively after the first altercation, that is explicitly prohibited, 1 + 1 = 2, so quit complaining about the ejection.
…..Brown was NOT pushed out of bounds( Castle did NOT extend his arm which is ALWAYS proof of a PUSH!)
In today’s NBA yes that slight push is typically and consistently called against the defender.
But to your brutally accurate point the reaction between the two no calls is the story here.
Browns diva reaction likely cost his team the opportunity to win.
King of the Castle 🎉. He's our new Ginobili 😂🔥
Wemby got hit so bad..no foul and said nothing.
Really don’t get Jaylen Brown incident. This was NOTHING compared to how SA got beat up by the Pistons!!!
"Castles were built to be a permanent defensive position to withstand attacks and protect against invasion." 🏰#5
They are 19-0 when making 16 or more threes in a game according to the Spurs FanDuel broadcast team.
Ref never even seen the touch Brown definitely overreacted it was only the second quarter
All the Celtics fans I know agree with the no call.
If you call on Brown you call every play on on vic….
It literally doesn’t matter if it was a push or not, bc if Castle pushed him and caused the fall, if the push caused the fall, JB himself made it look like he was flopping bc the fall was delayed. Now if JB tripped over his own feet and that caused the fall, then it’s understandable he thought the push was to blame but he was wrong in that case. Bc again, the fall was delayed. JB looked like he was flopping, he just did! And don’t forget the multiple times Spurs were hit in the face and didn’t flip out on the refs. Don’t forget Wemby gets beaten up all the time and doesn’t flip out like that. The sequence maybe shouldn’t have gotten JB tossed, but his behavior and unwillingness to walk away certainly did.
That was barely a lovetap…non call was correct…he tried to flop and complain about it
Yea jaylon brown is a drama queen 👸 i only know after watching him on the big 5 series
W Thumbnail 😂😂
The intro is crazy 😂
Castle wont let you get past the moat 🏰🔒
Even in this game, Wemby took a shot to the face with no foul and NO complaining by him either at the time he took the shot or in the post game interview. Jaylen is just mad that, as a MVP candidate, he isn’t getting the “diva” treatment that SGA gets all too often.
It was a bad call on brown, but i agree that his ranting towards the refs afterwards on him getting ejected
That CLEARLY was NOT a Foul!!! Castle is going to be a BEAST at the rate he is going. I Personally am Beyond Happy WE have him!! GO SPURS GO!! 🏆🏆
The last five Spurs seasons have been marked by poor defense. Now, team defense has improved drastically, ranking fourth in the league. Credit likely goes to new defensive coach Sean Sweeney. Sweeney exhibits far more passion during games than Mitch. Conversely, the other assistants look like…well, assistants during games. TSR, can you dive into Sweeney's background? He may be headed for head-coaching interviews after this season.
So basically TSR Sports doesn’t want Stephon Castle to act like Ricky Lombardo and Ron Jambo on the basketball court got it
Great point you made about the Wemby hit. He was bleeding, no foul and just got on with it. This really shocked me, I've always considered Brown a pretty cool head. This is what you expect from Green or Dillon Brooks. Still love Brown though. Awesome player
Castle is giving me Scottie Pippen vibes the way he plays Defense. Lockdown!!
We need a big Power Forward to take the pressure off WemVP. Prospects: F/C Morez Johnson Jr 6'10 255 Michigan, C Rueben Chinleyu 6'10 265 Florida, F/C Chris Cenac Jr 6'11 240 Houston or Tallis Reed 6'11 265 UConn.
JB threw a tantrum. There are numerous examples of worse no-calls on both sides. No refs are singling out Brown. It’s all ego. He feels he is such an elite player that he should get calls whenever an opponent enters his zip code. I respect Jaylen as a player, but shut up and play. Deal with the refs and the league through the players association.
Idc what anyone says, that pic of Castle looking to his left is TUFF!
Damn that hand to the nose hurt me! ouch!
He got mad cuz they didn't believe it's flop. Celtics are babies
I think since The SPURS already confirmed to Play in the play-off, mitchy asked Wemby to "Practice" his 3 point shooting in the Game against celtics
What do you think? From what you saw, is he did a good job??
BOTH GUILTY: Steph did lightly foul Brown (though perfect non-call); Brown absolutely exaggerated the impact (flop). But it's how they handled it that distinguished the 21 year old Castle (acting like a grown man professional) from the 29 year old Brown (toddler tantrum). Castle has that TIMMIE-LIKE stoic unflappability, combined with an inner "dog" on defence. PURE SPUR ! Note: my son NEVER acted like this as a child — way more class even at the age of 2.
The NBA needs to find that cry-baby a million dollars 4 his stupidity
It’s was a foul all day long.
We just need Steph to do this to SGA. He's already doing it, but he's going to have to bring it should they collide in the playoffs. But yeah, this makes Jaylen Brown a liability in some ways if these two were to meet in the Finals. It only takes forcing a him to have one or two bad games to swing a series in our favor. But Steph (or Stevie Drawbridge I heard one of the Amazon announcers call him) is a winner and is big part of why the Spurs look unstoppable lately. Shout out to Devin Vassell too; the way last night started he looked like he was streaking his way towards having another non-factor, 1-8 shooting nights and he turned it around and became incredibly impactful. Sorely needed since Julian had an off-night. Vassell really is in his most perfect role of just being that 4th guy to spread the floor for them. Everyone stay healthy 🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞
I totally agree. It was a good call… out of bound!
The faut on Wemby should have been an intentional 2.
It was obvious that he wanted to hurt him… like a lot of players of other teams. Which is sad…
Why do you want to purpusfully heart someone knowing that his body is is mean of living? Just evil mindset!
All the spurs should go on a retreat to the Shaolin Temple in China 🙌🏾
Castle has earned the reputation of being one of the top defenders in the league so a little touch on the back the refs most often than not won't call those on him
AmenAmenAmen, and Vassel also got hit in the face. There were 3 of our players that got hit in the face within the 1ST quarter…
Castle is our Dawg, he's all NBA First team, in my opinion. I freaking love Castle!!!
I like that Castle is (generally) a pretty quiet dude on the court and just plays hard…all business. He locks players up and throws them in the (Castle) dungeon!
