honestly this is apart of a slew of moments that are making it hard for my to say the nba isn’t rigged, mccain has shown more than enough actualized talent while still having potential especially for a team like philly who needs to build around maxey in the upcoming years
the value people put into draft picks these days is crazy. They should not be as valuable as they are because the odds of you getting a star even with the 1 pick isn't guaranteed and if it's outside the top five you'll be pinching yourself if you can get a starter caliber player. Once you leave the lottery you're shopping for bench players and past 25 to the second round you're just picking the best of what's left which could be guys who are out of the league within a few years. Like McCain for example is a guy that could be an NBA starter for 80% of the league in the future. That's a top 5 pick in a lot of drafts. So him going for a first rounder in the 20's is wild because more often than not, those picks end up being bums. Also you see stars go for 3/4/5 picks which is bananas. You could have 20 first rounders and if none of them are in the lottery you aint replacing that star. If none of them are in the top 5 you might not replace him. It's like we're in this weird market situation where player value is too low and picks value is far too high and no one seems to have noticed. Like if you have picks cash them in now before anyone realizes how overvalued they are.
Morey clearly missing a level of understanding necessary for the job. Morey Nurse Joel and Pg have to go before the franchise can rebuild into something worth keeping.
Can we stop talking about McCain as if he's the next coming of Steph or something? He's a serviceable role player, that shoots well. That's about it.

Sending young players and picks for a star makes sense. Sending young talent for picks doesn't make sense. The whole point of having picks is to get young talent. The sixers done nothing with the trade when they're on a win now mode. Time's ticking. Embiid not gonna be at high level soon even if he's healthy

As a Thuner fan I didnt get the trade at first because we are already completely loaded with an entire team of wing players but man I get it now. McCain is a very talented offensive player who can go for 20 or more on any given night an can score at all three levels. he's shooting 42% on 3s since coming to OKC and he has shown a really good midrange game. he's also really trying hard defensively, and he knows he has to if he's going to get minutes with Daignault. For him to join a championship team and make this kind of impact this quickly is pretty amazing.
