You cant have it both ways. If we building around Flagg we need a high draft pick to pair with Flagg for the next 5 years together. Then we have a chance to build a championship team. Cooper Flagg will not lead this team to a championship with this current roster. It won't happen. Maybe he can make us a play off team but never a championship. So either tank & loose or dont and play Irving to see how they fit with this roster. One or the other, but you cant have both. Tough call for Kidd to make. But he has to make that call.
It makes at least some since to win a little. Who cares about projection or play of another player when there's a player in the building who I believe is a generational COMPETITOR. Blah blah blah talent, blah blah blah. Losing too much takes the edge off…period. They need to win at least some. Copper wants to win now and who could blame him? Playing honest ball even in losing is just that, honorable.

It’s not about the ping pong balls. It’d going from a great talent to an ok talent at best. Darius acuff or Keaton wagler to Mikel Brown jr. Mikel brown jr is a high usage guard.
Wagler is a low usage guard and has some better offensive advanced stats than darryn peterson, younger, and has a translatable game
This is exactly why trading AD was a bad idea. He is out for the season. Middleton and Bagley are not. Those two won us three of the four wins since the trade. Coop was going to win us some games when healthy and it can't be helped, but had we not had Middleton or Bagley we would have lost those three games and be in a much better position. We should have at minimum bought out Middleton whether he likes it or not. But then you make the AD trade even more meaningless.
I like Poulakidas, I hope we keep him. We need guys like him.

I think you're basically right. Flagg is great so this is going to happen some times. it's also nice to see Poulakidas have a moment.
It's also why it is absurd that they let Middleton carry them to victory against the Grizzlies with a 4th quarter heater rather than subbing him out. You're going to get surprise victories due to Flagg and the way March basketball goes, so you really don't want pointless wins off of the back of veterans who don't need the development.
I was at this game. The mood of the Mavericks team before the game started was different and it reflected in their play. They were more cohesive on offense, and they had joy as they were playing.

I’m thinking there should be 2 tournaments at the end of the season to stop tanking. The first is obviously the main tournament for the championship and plays out the same way, draft order included. The second tournament would be for the number one pick and would settle the top half of the draft order with the better finish earning a better draft pick. Each tournament would draw attention and earn more money for the league and players. Fans would win by watching teams that both want to win, more entertaining.
Great game for the team overall for me Dallas fan Cooper Flagg's best game 🔥 he never stayedstill, always movin, finding his best position. his best shot, not too much time with the ball and 10/17 Everybody played well but not a good strategy for the draft.
