  1. He also scored a fadeaway in the 5 min mark.

KD being rattled and making turnovers left and right when doubled (6 last game). Luka very comfortable manipulating and countering double teams. The last two assists it was basically Luka taking on 5 Rockets players and forcing them to react.

  2. An objective evaluation of Luka Dončić’s offensive skill set should focus on technical evolution, not comparisons of superiority.

Under pre-2010 rules, where the gather was more restrictive and the pivot foot was more strictly defined, players with slower pace would have their limitations amplified. Defenders could stay tighter and disrupt them more easily.

If we go back to the pre-2010 era, elite players would still be elite, but their scoring efficiency would be significantly reduced in that environment.

After the 2010s, with the relaxation of gather steps (allowing one to two steps) and a more dynamic interpretation of the pivot foot, the rules became much more favorable to offensive players.

This especially benefits players who lack explosive athleticism or flexibility, as it gives them more ways to manipulate tempo and create advantages through pacing rather than speed.

It’s hard to imagine how much physical load would be reduced—and how much scoring consistency would improve—if older-generation players like Kobe Bryant, Michael Jordan, or Allen Iverson had been allowed an extra step or more flexibility in redefining their pivot foot.

The impact could easily be on the order of 10+ points per game and a double-digit increase in shooting percentage.
