From being a championship contender to failing to make the playoffs to tanking, this franchise has probably done the fastest destructive turnaround in basketball history.
Truth be told, they are good enough to compete for the last play-in spot. However, they treated this season as a g-league training ground for a rookie to masquerade as a generational franchise talent at the expense of winning, team morale, and fan loyalty, in order to remove the stench of the historically bad-trade that the organization finally admitted to by giving up on AD after just one season.
In this game, Cooper was the 6th or 7th best player on the floor, which was incidentally the same situation the last time these teams met. Cooper had the physical gifts and versatility to be a great sidekick similar to Andrei Kirilenko or Brent Barry. He can slid comfortably into his role as the number 3 option next year when Kyrie returns as the number 1 and their draft pick or Naji or even Middleton as the number 2.
Cooper said it best: "he has never been in a situation with this much losing". Which means that Cooper have not experienced and subsequently learned from undergoing immense adversity during his formative basketball years.
Acuff comp is cam Thomas. And he got waved because nobody wanted to trade for him.
If you talk about Acuff defense don't fail to mention Boozer's defense too Wilson over Boozer isn't a crazy take if you value defense.

Acuff will make you eat your words. Best guard in the country, statistically best season Cal guard has had. Any defense issues he more then makes up for bc he doesn’t turn the ball over. He has an impressive assist-to-turnover ratio around 3.0–3.2. Lead the SEC in points and assist. He always makes the right play and makes shots that’s what really makes him special.

The defense talk about Acuff is way overblown as a Razorback season ticket holder, he’s an average defender. Boozer is too while Brown, Wagler, and Philon aren’t great either. The NBA is all about offense nowadays anyways and small guards are amongst the top scorers in the league – Brunson, Curry, Maxey, etc.
Having Acuff, Kyrie, and Nembhard on the same team is a great idea. Worst defensive backcourt in NBA, baby lfg!
