Zalgiris boosted its playoff hopes by downing Real Madrid, 87-85, in a thriller on Friday night. Chuma Okeke scored 8 points in the first three minutes, and Mario Hezonja netted 9 fast points to make it 25-29 at the end of a high-scoring opening frame. A flurry of baskets from Sylvain Francisco sent Zalgiris ahead, and several lead changes ensued before consecutive Sergio Llull triples gave Real a 53-55 interval lead. Defenses dominated in the third quarter, which finished with the visitors in front, 68-72. The fourth quarter stayed close with more lead changes until Zalgiris edged ahead in the final stages and won it through Francisco’s free throws with 3.9 seconds left.

Francisco was again the hero for Zalgiris as he combined 20 points with 5 assists, supported by former Real playmaker Nigel Williams-Goss with a double-double of 11 points and 10 assists, while Moses Wright patrolled the paint to the tune of 16 points, and Azoulas Tubelis had 8 points with 9 rebounds. Hezonja led Real with 18 points but missed an attempted game-winning three on the final buzzer, and Walter Tavares also recorded a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Zalgiris improves to 18-14, while Real drops to 20-11 as a five-game winning run ends.

    Thos Zalgiris team is a real POWERHOUSE!!! I'ts no longer surpising that they play ao well… if somehow this team manages to reach Top 6-Zalgiris could be in top 4. Besides Oly and Fener any other team ks BEATABLE for Zalgiris and they even have a good record… Losses to teams like Maccabi and Paris cost them a lot… But this win against Real Madrid is another STATEMENT!!!

    ¡¡¡Menudo atraco al Madrid en la última jugada jajaja!!! Se tiran los árbitros 10 minutos para ver cualquier jugada random en el quinto minuto del partido y luego la acción decisiva, a tres segundos del final con empate en el marcador, no la revisan, cuando era un piscinazo como una catedral de Francisco.

    Great win for Zalgiris. In fact both teams looked great. However, can't really understand Zalgiris team's coach to keep Brazdeikis on the floor while keeping Butkevicius on the bench majority of the times. Or sitting Francisco while hes needed and letting Giedraitis out. Yes, they can all play, but i feel Zalgris loses most of the times with coaching staff not being able to select the players correctly..Congrats anyway!

    I’m Lithuanian, but that was a clear travel by Francisco on Žalgiris last possession. No bias – rules are rules
