This Isn’t The Same LA Lakers…

The LA Lakers look like legit contenders for the first time this season behind Luka Doncic and LeBron James.

  1. I was looking at the current playoff standings, especially the 4 through 6 seeds and I can see the Lakers winning against Houston. Like Tucker mentioned, the size of Denver and Minnesota is troubling. Houston has possessions where they get cold. You steal a few possessions and that's a 12 point lead. Granted, LA will give those points back with their lack of defensive effort.

  2. As a Dallas Mavericks supporter I'm still sad about the trade. I'm like a scorned wife. I don't think I'll ever get over it.

  3. yall hype this trash team up everytime around this time of year, you better hop you all dont run into denver in the first round, or spurs or okc in the 2nd round!!!!!

  4. The key to lakers sucess is guarding the 3pt line. They get beatbor blown out when they dont guard the 3

  5. From what I’ve seen. The lakers are going to lose purely on second chance points as they are genuinely really bad at rebounding. Throughout their win streak they have consistently lost the rebounding battle and at some point that will come back to bite you. Ayton is not great at rebounding when matched against another good center. And the rest of the team doesn’t crash the glass at all.

  6. The lakers gotta use LeBron on fast breaks and attacking the basket.. that’s where he is very useful. Putting LeBron back in his original role was the best thing for the lakers🔥🔥🔥💯🏆🗣️

  7. I'm still not 100% convinced. Watching them they still look like they are missing some athleticism. They have probably the best play making out of the top 5 teams but they are missing that explosion most of those teams have. Having a 41 year old Lebron being your fast break finisher at the rim doesn't bold well for them. However I think they are good enough to upset OKC or Spurs. It'll be hard though.

  8. The Lakers are still a very flawed team, but credit to JJ for maximizing the pieces he has, especially at the small 4 and non existent 5 (when ayton decides to throw a hissy fit)

  9. They don’t have sizes? Jaxon, Ayton, Bron, Luka all have sizes at their positions. Wait, please add Rui on the list. They just need to play hard as a team. Their defense will be decent.

  10. What are you talking about? Rebounding is bad, missing size, rebounding rebounding rebounding… My man, the are 12th in defensive RB% and 13th in total RB%. The starting lineup is 6'4 – 6'5 – 6'7 – 6'8 – 7''0 The bench is 6'4 – 6'7 – 6'8 – 7'0 They are a lot of things, but an undersized team with rebounding problems isnt one of that. If anything, they are a bad ORB team. But thats not that important if you shoot the highest FG% in the league and have the highest FT rate as well.

  11. People forget about Smart. This is a team that can have 4 playmakers on the floor. They are not as agile but they are smart, and they have a coach that thinks like that too.

  12. thing is the roster is still not good enough; next offseason will be the first season luka will get his chance at a real Luka Lakers team

  13. You're neglecting to mention the team started taking off when Reaves got healthy and JJ made him the 2nd option instead of Lebron.

  14. To be fair, even a (slightly delusional) lifelong Lakers fan, who usually think we can win it all in most years, I was counting this as an off year, mostly due to all the deficiencies this team had on the defensive end. To make things worse, at one point it felt like JJ lost the locker room and then this happened… 😲

I can't believe I am going to say this, but it seems to me that Lebron was at least in big part the reason this change in approach and chemistry in general happened. Once he accepted the fact that he's no longer No 1 (or 2) option on most nights, he focused on doing other things team needed the most, and it seems that rubbed on everybody else.

Honestly, I couldn't wait for this season to end, so we can get rid of LeBron's max contract, but right now, I wouldn't mind having LeBron (and Bronny 😆) back, just not at the max money. 🙂

  15. Oh now you want to keep LeBron? You don't no longer seem…oh yes…the wind has changed like your opinion. Those of us who never left the bandwagon still have the best seats! HMMPH!

  16. its literally all because lebron finally realized he just needs to play the chris bosh role. rebound defend and ocasically score

  17. Based on what I’m hearing, you’re trying to fit their system and what they’re doing into something that you recognize which other teams have implemented in the past or from what has typically been done. Maybe what JJR is doing will change how other teams construct around their strength and weaknesses in the future

  18. 2025/26 lakers might be the 2024/25 psg of the nba.

I mean like exact same scenario if they do win, started off pretty badly in the beginning for like 3/4ths of the year but then at the right time they started doing well.

Even if you were considered pretenders for most of the season if they legitimately can beat any team that’s almost at full strength they can obviously win the championship

  19. One week every video on YouTube says the king is washed…. Next week they're winning on a different level lol want to guess what the title of the videos next week are going to be lol

  20. Let's be real. If you are a team who cannot defeat the top two teams in the conference and thus have to go through at the very least one of those two top teams you are not a contender. OKC and the Spurs do everything that the Lakers struggle with. We will get to see shortly just how competitive they can be when they play OKC soon. I do not see LeBron physically keeping up during the playoffs against these deep athletic teams. I certainly don't see Luca keeping his efficiency going either.

  21. ill say this the reason they are winning is yeah because of the big 3 because all 3 can score if you double luka that means either bron or reaves is open and i would not leave them open also marcus smart has been good but you look at the rockets you can double kd because they have no shooters

  22. Also lebron is playing so damn good is because lets be honest can a 3rd option defender really guard bron who most def could still score 27 ppg if he wanted to
