DC – Doug is a good developmental coach. Guys get better, he’s gotten better, I don’t like this next crop of assistants. DC is coming back for me.
Look at Maxime Raynaud! Look at his development! How long have we talked about coaches not being able to develop players!? Max was picked 42nd, and he’s the steal of the draft and he’s been the 3rd or 4th best rookie of the year. Nique has developed, Plowden has developed, Cardwell has developed! Then look at injuries, you can’t just dismiss them like Matt George does. Injuries happen, and you NEED TO TAKE THEM INTO ACCOUNT! More often than not; If a team is missing its top players, the team won’t be as good. Doug has developed 4 young guys who have all showed progress and continued improvement throughout the year. That’s a sign of a good coach. Keegan, Sabonis and Lavine have been injured more than half of the year, and Monk has been out a large chunk too. You can’t just dismiss that when thinking about Doug’s performance this year. If all you do is look at how Doug pivoted when the main guys went down, you have to credit Doug for developing his young talent! How do you not keep Doug?! He’s done as good of a job with what he was given.
