CRISIS: Orlando Magic fumble must-win as Magic FAIL to show urgency in tightening Playoff race

The Orlando Magic unraveled in a crushing 128-126 loss to one of the league’s worst teams in the Indiana Pacers. The team found itself down early, outworked and out physicaled, giving the Pacers confidence to close the game and end a 16-game losing streak. Orlando has now lost five straight games and their playoff hopes are fading.

Where is the urgency that this team needs? Where is the team peaking heading to the Playoffs? Where is the team’s identity it relies on?

The Magic have been searching for these things all season long. And while Orlando rallied to make it a close game and give itself a chance to tie on the final possession, it leads to the inevitable conclusion that the Magic must move on from Jamahl Mosley this offseason.

His offensive schemes are not getting the team easy shots and reliable ways to score and the team’s defensive identity has completely collapsed, leading to dispiriting losses like this one late in the season.

It feels like Orlando is struggling to salvage something from what they have left this season.

  1. I honestly believe in this roster, I just think they need a coach that puts them in position to be the best version of themselves. Paolo should be used like how jokic is used, while Paolo is attacking a defender in the post, everyone else should be running around not standing still. People tend to set a spy on Paolos blind side, yet we do not exploit that tactic. We have shooters that need 6-8 shots a night , not 3-4 every other night. I think at most for the roster we should move Suggs for an offensive guard and a pick. I love Suggs but availability is the best ability, which hurts me to say.

  2. Philip, I cannot expect guys to shoot well when they aren’t getting consistent shots up. Not to mention the painful offensive schemes, I believe we have shooters but they need more consistent shots to go up from a game to game basis.

  3. I wouldn’t consider Paolos over dribbling a bad habit, it’s not a strong skill. He’s forced to do it, it’s not necessarily him having the habit naturally of doing it.

  4. Suggs, Franz or P5 and Carter should all be eligible for a starting guard, a true center and some bench scoring. I've seen enough. P5 looks like he's out of here first chance he gets. We have a lot of work to do.

  5. Coach can’t maximize our players because he can’t coach offense the Magic NEED a coach not a developmental coach I’d be fine with keeping Mose as an assistant coach but he can’t be head.

  6. This game finally broke Phillip…I think most of us broke a while ago…something was off about this team from the very start of the regular season, and but for a few instances they looked ok but the off feeling kept creeping back over and over…something has not been right and its clear they wont be…

  7. We’ve needed a dependable PG for years. Suggs is maybe enough if he played 65-70 games but he doesn’t and even when he does he’s erratic.

Also if we’re going to move Moseley I think it’s only fair to look at our FO and what we’ve actually accomplished in the past 7 years, which outside of landing a top pick and drafting Franz, isn’t much

  8. New front office,New head coach, New impact players = New Results!! This same old story is getting old!!! I have been waiting for a championship team for 37 years, since l was 24 in 1989, l need a conclusion to this SAGA!!!šŸ¤”šŸ¤·šŸ¼ā€ā™‚ļøšŸ˜±šŸ„¶šŸ‘šŸ»

  9. Mind you, people were making fun of the Hawks for beating up on bad teams. Not as easy as it looks!

  10. There are a lot of problems with this team – undisciplined, can’t shoot, all those things but they have played up and down to their competition all year. They’ll play a good game at Cleveland tonight and probably still come up short. Besides those things there’s always something wrong with your core players, whether it be injury or being freakin sick, really?? I’m sick of it, this team is soft as Charmin

  11. I honestly hope we don’t even make the playoffs. Seriously, we are fighting to have another first round exit, there’s no way this team as currently constructed with Mose as the head coach is getting out of the first round. Maybe not making the playoffs will force the front office to make some changes but Weltman has proved time and time again that he believes that this team is enough even though we have been one of the worst 3pt shooting teams in the league for years and our offense is just terrible. Fire Mosley, fire our terrible strength and conditioning staff, trade Suggs and let’s get some good shooters to surround Paolo because this just ain’t working.

  12. It doesn't matter if Halliburton is hurt or not the magic have underperformed there was no way we were going to beat a team that ACTUALLY went to the NBA finals. While we never made it out the 1st round.

  13. It’s a systemic problem that starts with Weltman’s over reliance on risk signings of injured players who never work out and a play style too demanding on those who do. Team is never healthy and sick of putting it all on the line for an average coach and average results

  14. Mos has leaned too heavily into the team ā€œembracing the freeā€ and not enough time getting them to learn plays and play disciplined. These guys need someone with more of a specific plan.

  15. the east has had an influx of talent the last few years and i dont think what we have has a path forward in playoff seeding in the future. Something needs to change.

  16. Look at the line of defensive coaches the Magic has had. The league has evolved. Players getting beat up trying to score in the paint. Orlando is where the jump shot goes to die whether mid range or 3’s, no player here has a consistent shot. Players getting beat hurt and are gone for better part of the season. I can cut and paste this post every season. How do you continue to ignore the key to your offense year after year which is a PG? No changes = No change

  17. LOL PRR finally broke. I'm numb to it, it's been obvious for awhile now. This is a bad coached team specifically to take us to the next level.

  18. Phillip ask the real hard questions in the post game press … PRESS THEM!!!! Ask those questions to the coach and players.. soft ass shit

  19. This is on the players for sure, but this is on the front office and coaching for me. Carter doesnt fit with Paolo, no rebounds, non offensive schemes coming from that sideline. Players know o everyting is hard and there is nomflow to this offense. Paolo isnt without fault but we gotta put these players in better position. Im at that point where i need a new coach given a chance with this team. And see if its just coaching, and schemes or is it truly injuries and players not fitting together. To
Me it seems like coaching is failing these boys, culture, environment is not good. Without Paolo and Franz being the non tone setters, then the coach has to be that guy. Paolo and Franz are the most soft spoken non verbal leaders. Cool then the coach has to be that guy. This coach isnt that guy

  20. Thank you Philip, you been holding on for a long time, he is a great individual,, but he is not pushing the right buttons for this Orlando Magic team.
