“Not There Yet”: Nick Wright SHUTS DOWN Victor Wembanyama’s MVP hype | NBA
Nick Wright reacts to Victor Wembanyama stating that he should be the NBA MVP following the San Antonio Spurs’ 136-111 win over the Miami Heat and breaks down where Wemby should stand among the Oklahoma City Thunder’s Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Los Angeles Lakers’ Luka Doncic, and the other top candidates.

Facts Nick!!
wassup
Poor attempt to put Luka over Wemby and it’s not gonna work
So you guys don’t say anything to the audience lol we just get to listen? 😂
This is false Hakeem, KG, Duncan are examples of those that won it because of their immense defensive value
I love how nick is penalizing Wemby for being a great defender. Normally I agree with you, but this is one of the worst arguments you've ever made.
What makes them better offensive players ?? IF we are talking numbers yes they are but if we are talking offensive impact wemby is top 10 offensive players
The reason why nick cant seem to grasp you can be good at something but not put up the number is because he is looking at the sport through a lebron framed glasses
You are understating his offensive impact! He draws multiple defenders even without the ball. That is why the Spurs have had more corner 3s than any team in history!
He’s gonna be the best player in the league by mid way next season 💯💯💯the scary thing is I feel he stil got a little more of a ceiling and by next season all star break when he plays again after the break it’s gonna be over for the league with the team they hav and can add too really 🤷🏾♂️💯
Hey man, you gotta remember about them rebounds that create shots after a block.
You can't have this take and criticize Steph Curry's or James Harden 'prime on defense. You also cannot use lebron miami heat version defense as a reason he was the best player ahead of Kobe
9:29 shidddd
Thunder didnt fall apart when SGA was out either, they maintained the top seed
nick only looks at production (basic counting stats) and either undervalues or outright disregards impact, which matters most
Nah, you really should listen to Brou more. He knows ball.
Nick’s the best at nit picking to tell you why somebody he don’t like is a little bit overrated, but he’s also good at doing that to letting you know why somebody he likes is the best! One thing we know about Nick and since the season started, that he does not like San Antonio if Wemby played for the Lakers he’d be given him Mahomes treatment you better believe it!
Why is Nick never mentioning that Wemby has the best net rating in the league? One could argue that Wemby's impact on the Spurs is far greater than Luka's on the Lakers, based on that pivotal indicator.
As great an offensive engine as Luka is, the difference in net rating compared to Wemby, both offensively and defensively, is huge. Historically, haven't the MVPs (at least in recent memory) been the players with the most impact? About offense, Wemby is well capable of scoring 25 points in 8 minutes. He also scored 50 in less than 26 minutes (the fastest ever if I'm not mistaken, except for Klay).
He is just not a volume scorer nor a ball hog, & hence rarely takes more than 30 shots a night. That's also not the Spurs' modus operandi. His stats per 36 though are still insane. But sure Nick, please continue focusing on the stats that make you comfortable.
This is a very horrible take. You could not even put forward a coherent and comprehensible argument, especially on the Top 10 Offensive Players point. Lol
I love watching you but you sound like a person who doesn’t watch the games or at least does not know how to watch
Since when was averaging 24 a game while being the best defender a bad thing and not an MVP
I would so love to debate the Wemby side of this argument. Wemby's gravity on offense is a massive factor. SGA averages 6 more points. Does Wemby effect opponents scoring 6 more points than does SGA?
Nick wants Luka to win this year because wemby might be locking it up going forward
Nick Wright is exactly the type of media that Wemby is talking about when he said offense is the only stat people look at for the MVP.
I feel like Nick's usually pretty smart. He has to know putting his chips on the anti Wemby stock is gonna age exactly like Jokic
