I put Wemby head and shoulders (pun intended) above SGA. Ethical Hoopers > Whistle Princesses. I actually enjoy watching Wemby play. He's competitive, he works hard, and he plays the right way. Something about Lu Dort being the dirtiest player in the league, Caruso and Dort being allowed to maul opposing teams while you can't even look in Shae's general direction just irks me. I just can't respect that constant foulbaiting and flopping. Especially when he has that stupid look on his face like he just stuck his pickle in an electrical socket every time he pushes off or drives into someone. And the fact that he's rewarded for that behavior just compromises the integrity of the game for me.
Also, Giannis is dead to me. He's a diva. Had the whole world thinking he was ready to move, acting all emotional in post game interviews, just for the whole thing to be a marketing ploy for a betting company. Shut up, Giannis. Just shut the hell up.

Every week there's a new contender vs Shai for MVP, these are just gambling companies trying to bait people into throwing money away. It's Shai, it's been Shai all season and he locked it up when he hit back 2 back game winners against Denver.
Jokic has better numbers than any of these guys when you look at conventional production plus efficiency. He's going to be the first player ever to lead the league in assists and rebounds. Let that sink in. The only reason the Nuggets don't have a better record is they were absolutely smashed with an insane number of longer term injuries to the entire roster. These are facts. I'll leave it to others to draw conclusions. I would have no problem with SGA, Wemby or Luka winning the award, but let's compare the resumes side by side. I'm not naive and I realize the MVP is almost entirely a 'narrative' award that isn't based primarily on production or context. That's just the reality. Still, looking at the actual resumes and context carefully at the very least makes these debates more interesting.
Is the award for TEAM MVP or LEAGUE MVP? My understanding is that it's league MVP.. how can anyone with a straight face say that Wemby hasn't been the most valuable player FOR the League this year. He singlehandedly brought competition back to the all-star game. He is "must watch TV" . He is making defense "cool again". He engages and connects with the fan base in a genuine way far above and beyond what's required of him . He is the leagues golden child and represents everything that the league has been lacking and fans have been starving for.. he trades his own stats for wins because he always puts the team first.b he speaks his mind and intentions thoughtfully while other stars try to be PC and feign humility.. everything he said was true, but the league is what it is and the voters are what they are… for now. Shai will win it and he has earned it.. this isn't an effort to diminish his value, I'm really arguing semantics and the spirit of the award..
honestly it's the best thing that could happen for the Spurs. Go ahead and present Shai that trophy in front of Wemby before game 1 of the Western conference finals.. I remember them presenting David Robinson his trophy in front of Hakeem and we all know how that turned out.. throw gasoline on that competitive fire of his.. I'm sure he'll happily settle for finals MVP..

Thank you Jason, im tired of all the casuals who don’t watch Spurs game and just think Wemby is an average offensive player because he only average 24ppg and 3apg … I mean why would they be 7pts better on offense with him if he’s average ? Wemby is a GOAT defender and an elite offensive player, he’s like a mix of AD (Lob treat), Porzingis (3pts and spacing) and KD (Handles, midrange shooting) on offense and like a 7’5 Gobert on defense, he is even more mobile than him wich is crazy.
And you want me to believe a player like this isn’t MVP ?

Getting the #1 seed would be a massive boon to Wemby if he keeps up this production. Thunder are finally hitting a tough schedule now this late in the season and they have this apex predator hunting them down with the faint smell of blood. There be sharks in these waters.

It may be close but for me, the fact Wemby is playing less than 30 minutes a game, Didn’t start for a bunch of games and was out for longer does matter. Shai has played more minutes and that’s true even though he has sat out the 4th in over 10 blowout games. He also started every game he has played and has played more games. Lastly, Shai’s efficiency this year is his career high, turnovers are low. He is leading in FGs made and Free throws made, but does not lead in attempts in either category… proving out his efficiency even more.
Nag Jaylen Brown should be MVP. He put the Celtics in the Top 2 seed that nobody expected
