  1. That's fire imagine you weren't even going to go in the draft. Somebody pulled some strings and you become a household name

  2. This is how it should be. Let HS graduates elect for the draft but the team should focus on long term development and not a quick fix. Thats how you end up like the NYK or Nets.

  3. Lou Williams and Monta Ellis went in the 2nd round back in 2005, NBA scouts are very smart

  4. I remember thinking he was really good in HS, but I didn’t straight to the league all around talent and athleticism. I thought he needed at least a year of college. When he got drafted 2nd round, I was kinda surprised and not at the same time. But, he did become a favorite of mine

  5. Maybe this is a different look at it, but I feel this is the one of the best case scenarios for development in young players.

Coming out of HS, and being around a bunch of vets (those were not young 76ers rosters) for sure helped. Add to being a 45th pick, knowing you arent going to play, but not once going to the G league gave him maximum exposure to the NBA lifestyle until he was ready.

Def paid off. 3 time 6 man of the year, double digit scoring every year after that second year until his last.

Imagine if he was 15th instead of 45th. 0 percent chance this would happen 😅
