Detroit Pistons Defense Has RETURNED As Jalen Duren’s DOMINANCE Leads Pistons to Win Over Pelicans

Detroit Pistons dominate the New Orleans Pelicans behind Jalen Duren’s explosive performance, further cementing their playoff ambitions despite Cade Cunningham’s absence. Can Duren’s evolution as a dynamic scorer and playmaker redefine the Pistons’ ceiling down the stretch? Ku Khahil breaks down Detroit’s lockdown defense since the All-Star break, the emergence of Kevin Huerter as a versatile bench weapon, and the implications for the playoff rotation as injured stars work toward a return.

Key discussion points include All-NBA and All-Defensive team projections, Ausar Thompson’s Defensive Player of the Year credentials, and Coach JB Bickerstaff’s Coach of the Year campaign. Standout statistics spotlight Detroit’s fifth-best defensive rating over the past five games and Duren’s eye-popping efficiency as a centerpiece. With postseason awards in sight and team identity sharpening, the Pistons are back in the NBA spotlight—don’t miss this expert analysis of Detroit’s rapid ascent.

  1. Duran is so good and JB has to understand that he's definitely a true second option on a contender and needs to be used as such… It's clear the Pistons have unlocked something with Duran and he and Jenkins have been the driving force without Cade

  2. Huerter trade looking really good right now, especially since Ivey is out for the season again. Wish Ivey well, but that was the correct move.

  3. When Cade comes back start Huerter, this puts 3 advantage creators on the court (Cade, JD and Huerter) with this we’ll see more Cade post up and Harris can get more catch n shoot opportunities bc they gonna need him to shoot at least 5 threes a game in the playoffs. I believe the half court offense can be solve with this and defense won’t take a step back it will get better. I don’t want to get too excited with Jenkins yet I want to see him against a top 10 defense like Minnesota, who they play on Saturday I want to see how he looks being guarded by McDaniels

  4. I think Duncan should come off the bench because teams can’t plan for him if he’s not starting 🤔🤔🤔

  5. In the offseason the Pistons should trade or let these players walk: Tobias, Levert, Sasser and maybe Duncan according to the draft. We need to sign, draft or resign these players: Duren, Huerter, Bol Bol and Isiah Evan’s and search for a 3 pg. If the Pistons can make these moves we will be able to beat OKC and Spurs with ease🏆🏆🏆

  6. Huerter is not better than a healthy JI, stop lying out your teeth!🤦🏽‍♂️🤦🏽‍♂️🤦🏽‍♂️

  7. With Duren shooting 70% of his FGA and 80% of his FTA during this last 10 games, if I were JB, I will let him shoot 20 FGA every game

  8. Sub in Cade with one second to plaay in the game and have him stand in a corner. The NBA would have to change the 65 game rule then

  9. To win without Cade and Stew we have to more than ever have the highest sense of urgency. We just could not match Atlanta’s urgency.

  10. Great Show Ku!!! One thing is you have to admit you was SO wrong when you said we was cooked when Cade went down. I know we was playing like crap, but you gotta believe in your squad.

  11. While I love that Duren is proving to be a dominant offensive force with or without Cade, I really hope he doesn't get a Supermax. That would really hurt the team long term but I guess thats the price of success.

  12. I knew Huerter was an annoying guy to play against but like you say the more I see him, the more I think he's just "good at basketball". He does a lot of problem solving in real time sort of like Javonte.

  13. I’m finally coming around on Huerter. If he can continue this play against quality opponents he should be one of the first off the bench. Bench should be Stew, Jenkins, and Huerter for the playoffs with some Green and maybe Holland minutes.
