These Raptors Takes Make No Sense

The Toronto Raptors are in a strong position to secure a top 6 seed in the Eastern Conference, but somehow the conversation has shifted to whether they should start tanking instead. After spending the entire season working to get to this point, the idea of purposely trying to miss the playoffs just doesn’t make sense.

In this video, we break down why the tanking argument around the Raptors is gaining traction, and more importantly, why it’s completely flawed. From the value of playoff experience to the reality of where this team currently stands in the Eastern Conference, there’s a lot being overlooked in this discussion.

Yes, the NBA draft lottery is always tempting, but context matters. Tanking makes sense for teams stuck in the middle or fighting for the play-in—but not for a team that has already proven it can compete and is on track to avoid that situation entirely. Throwing that away after 70+ games would be a massive step backwards.

The Raptors have built something this season. Now the question is whether they stay the course, or if this debate continues to grow louder as the season winds down.

💬 Comment below: Would you rather see the Raptors push for the playoffs, or try to tank for lottery odds?

  1. No team will win building around Ingram, sorry to say. His peak is amazing to watch, but on average he is disappointing, and selfish.

  2. Too late to tank now. The Raptors are firmly entrenched in what Masai Ujiri once called "no-man's land". Not good enough to contend, not bad enough to get a top draft pick. I don't see any way out of it any time soon.

  3. Why would we tank when we already clinched the playoffs spot ? I swear, some of our fans have such loser mentality. Smh

  4. If we had lost that Pistons game the other week (a decision point for the franchise in my opinion), tanking the remaining games would have 100% been the smart play since it's the last season for it and we could definitely use the talent injection from a better draft pick.

  5. with barnes at PG and quickley in his natural position (SG), the raps could upset the pistons, especially without cade on the roster (injury). even if they lose in the first round against the knicks or cavs, the team earned its place in the top 6 this season and the playoff experience is critical to their development. getting a couple wins in the playoffs will be great for team morale heading into next season. only fake fans would call a tank at this stage of the season. those people don't understand the first thing about team building or the sport to be frank.

  6. 1:05 – The Bucks made the playoffs in 2013, and their "punishment" was drafting Giannis, with the 15th pick.

I think most people hate evaluating. This a deep draft, this is where it gets fun for everyone..

  7. Lol we don’t need no top pick to be better…anything to add fuel to the team would be better. 13th pick could still be something good then what we would get otherwise. That’s why I said pay attention to the class…we need shooters and backups. I was rooting for us to win a championship this year but after watching I know we’re not ready, maybe you think we’re going to the finals? Team is barely healthy this year & look at the pacers they were in the playoffs one year tank the next and look to go right back the next years. There’s nothing wrong with rebuilding or adding tools to win . Patience and timing are factors in winning. Unless once again you believe were going to the finals. My personal take is we’re lacking talent this year, CMB barely moves the needle.

  8. Explain the pacers they’re doing it reversed…went from the finals to last place. So I think a lot more factors into winning in the playoffs then just experience and having a game plan and tools that work together is a big thing. I think we’re heavily lacking in certain areas that are required for us to win. If we get bounced first or second round that will prove that we should’ve just finished the rebuild instead of locking ourselves in early. (Unless your goal is to go back to Derozan era). These contracts were already a problem you all complained about so we need other assets for once.

  9. When are people going to learn this doesn’t mean you get a high pick that’s going to hit. The wizards have been doing this for years and still suck. I don’t take people seriously that think the answer is always to just tank whenever you’re not a top team. It’s a loser mentality that kills your fan base. How long can you just throw games away every season before you completely destroy your fan base if they know you’re already planning loose ? You can’t tank every year.
