of course I'm a Knicks fan and it's hard to be objective, but I am REALLY impressed with Towns over the last 30 games. He seems to have accepted being the 2nd option, excellent emphasis on rebounding, less stupid fouls and turnovers, and if you watch the games, he's even a bit better on defense. still not great, but a huge improvement vs earlier in the season

  2. Top 10 in both offensive and defensive ratings and top 3 in net rating is a contender. They had a bad stretch and they haven’t beaten the pistons. They dominate everyone else

  3. Rough takes Rusty but I understand your wishy washy. I believe in the team, we'll see what Cade's timeline is. Celtics just beat the thunder last night. Knicks are very high very low, much like the fans, or vice versa. Mikal is the only guy playing bad, and Kat's actually been playing out of his mind lately. 4ppg less sure but that is translating to significantly better defense and much less dummy fouls (for some reason). I'm proud of his development this season, it's been critical to our success. Looking forward to his playoffs performance.

  4. Knicks have 9 shooters who shoot above 37% from 3. Mo Diawara is a 6 foot 9 forward who’s 20 years old and loves to shoot. Diawara, Jordan Clarkson, Mitchell Robinson, Deuce & Shamet are gonna be the main playoff rotation. Sochan is a forward coming off the bench too.

  5. hey Knicks fan, and I can’t help but disagree. The main point you wanted to bring up was our depth from this year to last especially in the forward spot when in last years postseason, we REALLY didn’t have a forward off the bench as Precious didn’t play for us unless it was garbage time & most of the 4 slot was between our main guys. This year, we have Diawara & Sochan where I will say Sochan isn’t a master on the offense his defense has been solid for us when he does play and he does what’s needed on offense. It’s crazy too u think that all those teams especially the Celtics, would beat us in the postseason when last year we beat them last year with a much shorter rotation of us & they were a much better team…..

  6. Why do people still D ride the Cavaliers when they fail every single year since Donovan got there

  7. You gotta mention mo diawara he’s been really good at the 3 and 4 spot. Also clarkson been great since January

  8. Rusty , i've been fought jared allen should've went to the new york knicks before he got created when he was on the brooklyn nets , just due to ham being a good all around center

  9. You don't understand how he is a all star? In the east .. at center ..
40 players average 20 points so what he's doing isn't a big deal sounds like your point. He has lead the league in rebounds the whole season. Which also makes him the player with the most double doubles for points and rebounds. He isn't putting up these stats as the #1 on a bottom 6 east team. Top 3 team in the east with no superstar. Brunson is a star but he isn't on that level where you just say oh yeah Knicks with brunson? Top 3 easy. Kat has huge flaws but come on. How many centers in the east are better this year who qualified lol.

  10. Mo diawara is gonna get playoff minutes he’s been great, and shamet has had an amazing season both shooting and he’s been a good defender

  11. Our guard heavy bench is basically Brunson insurance. Ideally, the more minutes we can give Jose Landry or even Tyler, the better. Thibs basically had no faith in anyone other than Cam Payne to be backup, and (no disrespect to him) Cam isn't a 2nd option on a team looking to make a deep run. Mike Brown really took advantage of this season to see what our guys can do. It's a lot of playing around with lineups during the regular season, so it's not surprising to see the inconsistency. I'm not overreacting for the regular season, I think we can get it together as long as we're healthy.

  12. I completely disagree with your concern about depth. The knicks bench is a massive upgrade over last year, with players like Diawara, Alvarado, Clarkson, and spot minutes of Sochan being a total difference maker.

  13. Josh hart is a 2 guard sure… on paper. Josh can easily play minutes at the 4 depending on the match up and surrounding Knicks

  14. The bench 6-10 is definitely Deuce, Mitch, Diawara, Shamat, and Clarkson. After that you have Alvarado, Kolek, Sochan, Huk, Dadiet.

The main concern is if Robinson or KAT get hurt then they’re really in a bad spot. I’m not too worried about their options after Sochan. If you’re relying on guys past 10 in the playoffs you probably aren’t a contender anyway.

But Shamat has given the Knicks so much Knicks have asked of him this season. Starting during certain injury situations.

Clarkson has played so much better from the time he fell out of the rotation. He’s not been the liability on defense you’ve come to expect.

Their wing depth is less of a concern when you’re always gonna have at least one of Bridges or OG on the court in playoffs. Not to mention Hart will definitely get lots of minutes. And Diawara will likely be the floater whose minutes depend more on who’s playing well in each game.

Then you have the constant rotation of shooters Deuce, Clarkson, Shamat.

Brunson and KAT are obvious focal points with Mitch subbing in for KAT. A little added tidbit is Mike Brown has sprinkled in some no center lineups recently. We’ll see how that develops.

Honestly I’m much higher on the Knicks than I was pre allstar break

  15. Their lack of consistency is frustrating but I hope they can turn that around in the playoffs. KAT has been playing really well recently and his defense and rebounding has been very good. He just needs to step up a bit on offense.

  16. As a matter of fact, I think you should make a video solely dedicated to Mo Diawara’s greatness after this flagrant foul

  17. Yeah you obviously don't watch the games! You're definitely stat watching! No mention of Diawara, not bringing up the fact that Duece has been out for over a month, and failing to mention how good Kat has been defensively!

  18. Lots of stuff wrong in this video but its clear a lot of people dont watch the knicks/right them off over anything. 1. Mitchel robinson doesn't play everygame which is why the defense was off alot of the time in the beginning. They are saving him for major playoff minutes. 2. Mo diawara has been a huge suprise this year and has been a great backup wing. Kolek doesnt play much, shammet has been good but out recently, Mcbride has been out for a while now. Guard depth has saved us because of all the injuries. KAT made the allstar team because hes been a 22/13/2 guy which is still elite. Hes been much better on defense this year as well which is a huge step up. Knicks had one bad strech which if they even went .500 they wouldve challenged for 60 wins this year in mike browns first year. Overall this team will most likely finish top 5 in offense and defense which is elite with a 55+ win record.

  19. This guy is stupid. Tell me u haven’t watched a single Knicks game without telling me. How can u say the Knicks lack depth ur laughable Buddy. Worry abt what the Chicago bums are doing. Not gonna be good any time soon. ✌️💔🥀

  20. Ur such a silly goose.
Knicks have been up and down cause they've been adjusting to Mike Brown.

The offense is has 2 looks… 1) movement movement movement. 2) Or Brunson ball. Knicks need #1 because when everyone's involved in offense, they give full effort on defense. Correct me if I'm wrong but Brunson is second in the league in first quarter scoring. He's gotta get his team involved early…

Also on defense, Mike Brown switched the objective mid-season from "direct opposition towards the middle," to "direct them to the sides"…

Their perimeter D needs improvement though. That should happen when their back-up McBride comes back. Shamet also has high level D. He stints and rotates very well, and has solid man-to-man. And so does Mo Diawara- very surprising for a rookie.

    Have a good night

  21. Their defense is a big question mark. I still think Robinson should be at the C with KAT at the PF to shore up the defense.

  22. Rusty, I understand they're not your favorite team to watch, but I gotta hit the "Watch the Games Bro" Button. Even on the podcast your take on the Knicks felt this way. Watch the games man!

  23. I'm a Knicks fan and even they don't know what they are yet.
They're good, but going all the way, will depend on who they go up against.
Knicks need to avoid a healthy Detroit to get to the final.

  24. They have the most balanced roster in the east, every position has depth, however their starters play in autopilot. Last night against the Hornets they looked like a team in their mid 30s, the lack of consistent effort is concerning. However, when they're locked in, they're clearly the best team in the east, issue is that they never play at their potential. About the offense, big questions about KAT, Mikal, Hart and OG, in that order. Brunson still does his thing every night. Defense looks good. Overall not sure what's the identity Brown wants to build in this team. Thibs gave certainty of what was his vision (wether you agreed with it or not, at least you have some assurance), I'm still not sure about Brown's vision of the team.

  25. My partner was playing a recent episode of The Zack Lowe Show in the car this morning and they were discussing title contenders, and the consensus about the Knicks was basically that they have all the pieces, but they didn’t like “the vibes” of the team. I could go on a whole rant about how the perception of this current Knicks team is largely a social phenomenon and not actually based on their basketball (largely because of KAT and Jalen at our core). It’s frustrating as a fan who LIKES the dynamic of this group that people are so dismissive of them cuz THEY view them as “soft” or whatever, but frankly no matter how good they play in the regular season, they will always be viewed as underdogs because of that perception. Even folks like Rusty who I know don’t agree with the politics behind that perception are susceptible to it, and it’s also hard to shake when you just can’t pay close attention to every Knicks game. Our bench is kinda short yeah, but Deuce (when he returns), Shamet and even JC all punch above their weight defensively for their size. Another piece MANY have brought up in the comments is Mo Diawara, who may not see a ton of playoff minutes but will definitely get floor time especially with his incredible shooting. And KAT’s defensive turn post all star break has just been stellar, he’s what brought us up defensively to where we are now (AND OG and Mikal who is especially underrated right now). They definitely need to get their shooting back on track for the playoffs and run more plays where they’re throwing lobs to Mitch and KAT who are unstoppable at the rim. They have all the pieces, but the narrative around them will ALWAYS poison the well, even for people who think they are above the noise

  26. Knicks fans when u don’t mention their rookie who’s avg 3ppg and is extremely overrated like every other player on their team:

  27. Two things: you forgot Mo Diawara, which if forgivable because he’s a rookie and most of the league doesn’t know how good he has been yet. But he is ahead of Kolek in the rotation at this point.

You mentioned that the defense is improved…99% of the credit for that should go to KAT who has been an exceptional defensive player this season. Nobody mentions that tho because of his reputation.

  28. I still don’t understand the sentiment behind people saying deuce is a worse defender this season from everything I’ve seen he’s been just as good as always and he’s been our best point of attack defender this season
