The Thunder DESPERATELY needed this…

Oklahoma City’s game against the Detroit Pistons was a MUST WIN at this stage of the season, and it was much closer than it probably should have been. This breakdown of tonights overtime game, which was taken OVER by the MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (47 points) details how OKC pulled out a 114-110 win vs the Pistons, despite several notable players missing for both teams (Cade Cunningham, Jalen Duren, Tobias Harris, Jalen Williams, Isaiah Hartenstein). Ryan Breeden dissects SGA’s 47-point masterpiece, talks the controversy foul call in the final seconds of regulation, and what tonights win, although ugly, did for the Thunder’s hopes at retaining the No. 1 seed in the western conference over Victor Wembanyama and the San Antonio Spurs.

  1. Shai gilgeous-alexander is the best player ever i promise u we will be back to back championship's this year and plus back to back MVP

  2. This game had me worried at work. The Pistons’ perimeter defense was insane. They kept us under 30% at 3.

I think this exposed how most of our bench don’t have a middy game. The last few games have shown also how valuable Hartenstein is as a facilitator and rebounder.

  3. Ill be honest man, Spurs are definitely scary. I can definitely see us losing the 1 seed in these last handful of games. I hope it doesnt happen, but idk.. guess we will see

  4. They need to figure out their defense.. not saying they ain't good, but its been slacking on the switching

  5. First he was a “foul baiter,” and now he “pushes off with his arm.” All these head coaches like Mike Brown, Chris Finch, JB Bickerstaff, Steve Kerr, etc., can’t beat us outright, so they create a buzz in their postgames about us and Shai. That trickles down to the talking heads on TV and it’s starting to influence refs decisions about us.

  6. IMO it wasn’t much of a foul, and to call it on THE GAME WINNER… kind of annoying tbh, BUT Thunder still win MOFOS!!!

  7. After a game like this it’s so evident how we need iHeart out there for the rebounding! That is one of my biggest pet peeves is getting beat so bad on the boards. Also, that call at the end of the game against SGA was so bogus! Almost every piston tonight was pushing off like that and never got called and yet SGA did it once and got called it’s absolutely ridiculous! Nice win for the guys

  8. We didn't have IHart and JDub and you really see how valuable IHart is when he's out. Once again we shoot threes like complete garbage but just keep jacking them up (10-34…29%). At the end of the day they got it done though and it's clear at this point that when the game is close in the final minutes we have a killer much like Jordan and Kobe. Shai is just not going to let us lose. I watched all of MJ's and Kobe's careers and the things he is doing to close out games is very similar.

  9. Javonte green was hand checking Shai when they crossed half court. Shai extends his arm to push Greens hand off of him. The only reason it looks like such a blatant push off is because greens momentum was already carrying towards the basket.

  10. Dort does a lot of things that doesn't show up on the stat sheet, disrupting the best players in the world for one! amazing how people just look at plus minus!
