As I have been saying all along, Joel Embiid is SELFISH (what he calls being competitive).
He clearly could have played vs the Wiz if he really wanted, as he has last say, unlike the other Sixers.
Joel's April fool's stunt was an attempt to get the fans to believe that he was against the decision to sit for the Wiz game.
Joel clearly took at least an extra week before he came back to play vs CHI. Having pain when sneezing is not an acceptable excuse.
Fortunately, the Sixers won, but it was looking scary in the 2nd quarter.
Keith is also correct that the Sixers organization is afraid of Joel, and will say as little as possible, so as not to make him mad.
The headline may have to be changed, as SAC surprised TOR and now the Sixers are in 6th place, by owning the tie breaker.
If only the Sixers had beat the Heat, everything would be looking very good.
Now we have to hope to beat Minny, who will be without Jaden McDaniels and could be more as it will be the 2nd half of a back to back for Minny, who play DET tonight.
Sixers need to aim to finish season at 4-2, since that is likely what TOR to do to finish season. TOR plays Heat twice, BOS, NY besides BKN and MEM.
Regarding the prior post, I disagree with much of what Marc and Keith said:
1. Yes, Nurse is coaching for his job, but almost never is a good coach fired by the POBO who hired him, if he hasn't lost the support of the players.
The bigger issue is whether Morey will be fired, but if he isn't Daryl knows that if the Sixers lose in the first round, it wouldn't be Nurse's fault.
Sixers should face Knicks, Celtics or Pistons in the first round. Everyone should agree that they are better teams. Sixers would have to compete hard and hopefully win a few games. If Morey fired Nurse, he knows it would be hard to find another coach just as good and besides that Morey and Nurse are in lock stop for changes that need to be made with the roster.
2. Regarding not getting Paul George into the game sooner, he admits he was trying from about minutes but there were no stops in action and he only had 2 time outs that he wanted to keep. Meanwhile the Sixers playing well.
2a. Now I do have plenty of complaints for Nurse, but I don't know if Morey would agree with me.
For one, there is no excuse for Nurse not to be able to better discipline Adem Bona, who tried to disrupt a Heat player 40 feet from the basket with 3 seconds left in the 3rd quarter. It resulted in 2 free throws. Nurse lets Bona continue to do these things.
I blame Nurse for demanding his players like Grimes and VJ NOT take high percent 2 point shots and instead take more 3 pt shots, even if not wide open.
This has caused Grimes to force too many 3s. Grimes better play recently has come from going back to more 2s.
3. Regarding Jared McCain, both of you are wrong. McCain was a distant 4th guard, but he wouldn't accept that role and he had a fan base who wouldn't accept that role. McCain has not hit 3 pt shot for the past 4 games and his minutes have declined to 12.75 per game now that OKC is healthier. It was always the case, including last season, that McCain's 3 pt contribution dropped with less playing time. Its possible McCain won't be part of the OKC rotation in the post season, although he should get plenty of garbage time.
There were many reasons for trading McCain, but getting under the Tax, as Keith says, was a minor reason.
I was the #1 fan all season calling for fans to revolt against Josh Harris and warn him not to ask Morey to Duck The Tax.
I asked many of the You Tubers as well as Keith, to have the courage to call out Josh Harris for this IN ADVANCE.
Keith and the others said nothing until after Joel as the Sixers not to duck the tax and to keep the Core together.
As it turned out the 5.8 M Tax penalty due to Paul George's suspension, changed the thinking.
At that point they were only 1.26 M over the Tax. It would have been irresponsible for any GM not to save that little.
McCain was NOT part of the core and he was becoming a problem as I explained. Oubre was, and even Drummond was more part of the core.
But since you guys are not CBA people, you never understood that Morey was telling the truth about how the retaining of Dom Barlow, who agreed to 3.415 M affected the CBA options for Morey.
Morey had other options to duck the tax, but it would have involved forfeiting Edwards or Watford, with McCain's 4.22 M allowed the Sixers to finish the roster.
Trading Drummond – 5 M, was not a good option, because they could not have replaced him with a impactful Big and still fallen under the Tax.
As it turns out, the Sixers are just $139 K under the Tax today. The Sixers had the calculations worked out at the time of the trade. No other move would have enabled this result. Cam Payne has been adequate and a real playmaking point guard, without the problems of McCain being unhappy. McCain would have only asked for a trade in the off season, so Morey DID sell HIGH. This will only be proven if the Sixers are able to re-sign Grimes and maybe Oubre too.
There was no good option to improve the roster and if they did, it was have held back the Sixers longer term, as that player would have needed to get paid.
Morey DID try to trade for Kawhi but would have had to given away PG and McCain.
McCain was also traded because Morey/Nurse were correct to expect Grimes to be more aggressive without McCain. Grimes has been too unselfish all season. Only after Maxey was out, Grimes proved he is the same athletic scorer he was last season. Sixers are lucky he Grimes is a team player – but too unselfish.
But the biggest reason why Morey traded Grimes, was that for the first time in 10 years, he got OKC to forfeit a first round pic, which right now will be pic #21 or 22 in the upcoming draft, along with 3 2nd round pics. Morey will make a move using draft capital to bring back someone who is much more impactful that McCain ever could be.
I'm with the sixers on this one you got to stay out and be you can't have the rest of the team getting sick with the last seven games left left left to go like if they all get sick then where we going up at

To answer Marc's remark about the team having control over Joel playing – the fact is that Joel didn't mind not playing as he didn't mind missing lots of other games. And there has always been tension between the Sixers and Joel.
Joel thought it was cute to invoke April Fools and he would therefore get away with it.
Joel would have been wise to have volunteered to play both games this weekend if he didn't like being called soft.

I don't agree with both Marc and Keith to belittle the Wiz.
The truth is that the Wiz have been competitive in most of their losses. The players do NOT tank.
My take is that the G-League has many NBA players, not that the NBA has G-League players.
On any night a team like the Wiz can beat half of the NBA teams, if the shooting is fantastic.
The Wiz are almost a lock to have one of the 3 worst teams. The 3 worst teams have the same odds for the 1st round pic anyway.
They don't have to tank.
I consider someone like Marjon Beauchamp to be a decent NBA player – better than Lowry of course as well as Cam Payne.
I would also prefer Beauchamp on my team this season over McCain, although McCain may have upside.
I will hold it against Nick Nurse if Lowry isn't waived at the end of the season, to allow Beauchamp to be available for the post season, and a team option for next season. There is NO WAY that there wasn't a discussion, before Lowry was offered a contract with a no trade clause, that the subject of waiving Lowry wasn't discussed. In that case he officially becomes a coach, but still keeps his 3.63 M.
Everyone agrees that Lowry is only holding a roster spot as a favor between Nurse and Lowry.
Just as not a single member of the media had the courage to call out Josh Harris in advance, regarding ducking the Tax, not a single member of the media has called out Nick Nurse and the Sixers for having Lowry take up a roster spot just so he could collect 3.63 M, while in fact acting as an assistant coach.
I have tried to explain this to most of the You Tubers. They could all get together and put pressure on Morey to waive Lowry, so that he would just stick to coaching.

If you’re sick, are you supposed to be at film? There’s questions i have that i feel like won’t ever get answered. Multiple players on the team missed games bc of illness this year yet Joel is the only one that gets 💩 on despite the fact he played thru being sick earlier this week. The smear campaign is old

The miscommunication between the Sixers, Joel Embiid, and the fan base makes me think the Philadelphia 76ers are a dysfunctional organization.
So Keith is acting like star players have never been sick during the day and missed team shoot arounds/film study and haven't played in the game. Keith has always had an issue with Joel. And both Marc and Keith were blowing Bam for the scoring record against the Wizards but now it's they were only playing the Wizards. If they had lost that game they both would have destroyed the team and especially Joel.
NOT impressed beating up a losing team. Beat a winning physical team first. That horrible defense and suspect coaching is not going to get us to a second round in the playoffs!
