  1. Bro, all of this was in Torres firstand second episode about this. What do you mean new information?

  2. Let’s use common sense folks

Kawhi forgoes 48 million in his contract extension -> Aspiration Files for bankruptcy -> Dennis Wong and Steve ballmer randomly invest 50 million into a bankrupt aspiration -> aspiration offers Kawhi 48 million to do nothing -> the nba players association defending Kawhi’s best interest ā€œyeahs nothing to see hereā€

    lol šŸ˜‚

  3. They shouldn’t be able to protect any players for the expansion draft. If they face no consequences then any other team that does this so blatantly better not either

  4. Ow that the Lakers have deep pockets I’m happy about this. Lakers can resign all their players and get Giannis and a couple role players

  5. I know people are probably going to drag me as being over-dramatic for this but I've been watching the NBA for almost 40 years. If the NBA comes out with a report that conveniently exonerates the clippers without providing actual evidence, I'm done with this sport. I'm not here to watch the WWE. Either this is a real sport with real competition that has to follow real rules and regulations… or its a fake sport where the richest owners can do whatever they want without repercussions. I really hope I dont have to do that, because I truly love this league, but it is what it is.

  6. A Silver is so tied to gaming in the NBA, but it goes back years. The first crack was the Patrick Ewing draft. Coming out of Georgetown #1 draft pick. Every team was hoping, then it broke a few GM's began to leak, its a done deal, Ewing to the Knicks. Same exact thing Flagg to the Mavericks. Strings are pulled, refs are informed, trades are encourged after negotiations. The $ now with media, TV, # of games, gaming, advertising, ticket prices, food/drinks & gear at games prices have exploded. Thus player contracts, mgt positions, coaches and especially owners profits & salaries are near out of control. A few more years down the road Luka will sign a contract paying him 1 million $'s per game. Imagine that, working 35 mins a night to play a game. Is it sustainable? Or will the NBA simply become a smoke screen WWE where the storyline to generate viewers and outcome already determined and the greed just continues to grows. Keeping the stars healthy becomes the biggest concern to keep the $'s rolling. Hope im wrong but scared im not.

  7. As an attorney, give me a few hours with the contract and I’ll find every dirty little secret.

  8. His main belief is getting things through Uncle Dennis, not doing things. Also, it was against Aspiration's beliefs to tell anyone about this deal. And Ballmer and Wong injecting money to that dumpster fire later on when Kawhi was due to get paid, ffs.

  9. Pablo Torre reported on Kawhi’s Beliefs Clause months ago. Even that part isn’t news here. This feels like ESPN doing the NBA favor.

  10. I truly believe this was more about getting Steve ballmer money and business then circumventing the cap. Like even when yall say 50 mil was what kawhi gave up signing with the clippers. Look at his pay he actually made more money taking shorter contracts with the clippers he didnt walk away from anything, he literally just signed a short contract.

  11. The fact that y'all don't understand why Kawhi would be paid so much is mind boggling. Occum's razor. Having Kawhi in the books means Aspiration continues getting a source of funding in the way of Ballmer investing. Sandberg is trying to keep the fraud going. Having Ballmer as an investor means Sandberg can flaunt Ballmer as part of his investor portfolio. Y'all don't understand the business aspect of this.

  12. It’s not just that the Kawhi deal was so much. It’s that it was $48m, which almost exactly matches Steve Ballmer’s initial $50m investment into Aspiration.

  13. I’m not that guy, But. I am starting to believe in some of the conspiracy theories that I’ve been going on for years. Fixed games, players /refs throwing games, lottery outcomes ( yes including the last lottery where Dallas got the number one pick, who knows maybe the ridiculous trade of Dončić )
The waving of a player to appease a liberal NBA organization… all this stuff seems to be trying to revive a dwindling NBA fan base, and GREED.

Under Adam Silver, things are looking pretty corrupt.

  14. Major conspiracy theory(for fun):

Adam silver wants to throw this under the rug. My guess he wants to do the Kawhi voided contract, and put more of a punishment on kawhi. By voiding the contract clippers have cap space. ESPN is pushing for LeBron to LAC, who has been more hesitant in their coverage of the clippers here. My guess is, silver wants LeBron in LAC, wipes away some of the stink from the investigation, and leads to an all time retirement tour IN EXCHANGE for LeBron getting future leverage in expansion teams/leagues.

Silver maintains order, gets to keep his billionaire conniving owner, LeBron does PR for the league, gets significantly compensated, gets leverage in expansion.

  15. you are looking at the wrong things. the contract was negotiated by a person on leonards side that explicitly asked other teams for illegal benefits and pay. the league forbade dennis from negotiating on anything related and he did and was paid to do so. the what isnt the issue its the who and why
