Why did the Wizards Apologize for their April Fool’s Joke? #nba

Why did the Washington Wizards issue a Public Apology after their April fools Prank?

To make a long story short, for April fools they blindfolded a fan and pretended he hit the shot making him assume he won $10,000

This of course was a Prank and he never won any money,

Both the Prank and the Apology are getting a Mixed reaction:

On one end some people are saying it was just a harmless prank and no one got hurt,

On the other hand people are saying $10,000 is life changing money for a lot of struggling people and toying with someone’s emotions like that is manipulative.

According to the Wizards apology, everyone including the so-called fan was in on it and the fan was just an actor thus making it a Skit and not a Prank, and this is what makes the apology controversial, because if it was a skit, then there is nothing really to apologize for.
