The hawks have 2 first round picks in this draft and the only “bad” contract they have is the kispert deal. Onsi been cooking ngl.

The reason the Off- Season was an A+++ is…
1 Alexader Walker is Box Office for the Hawks. And they got him on deal that is actually low balling his production by a large margin.
2. The Porzingis trade allowed the Hawks to for up a lot of Cap Space and roster space before the season started which was very important. Because…
The Young Joc Lendale Pick-up was able to be done because they had cap and roster space to be able to make that happen.
The Porzingis pick-up and his precieved value is also what allowed Onsi to be able to flip that into the Kumimga and Held pick-up. GS would have never traded Kuminga to the Hawks if they didnt get someone they truly valued in Porzingis in return.
3. The Hawks not extending Trae Young to an event more expensive contract allowed him to be able to be traded to Washington. For CJ and they got Kispert as a throw in that Improved the bench depth.
4. Onsi traded his pick Derrick McQueen to the Pells for an unprotected lottery pick.
So from the jump people hated the phrase optionality when Onsi always said it. They assumed he was just trying to stay under the cap and being cheap.
But now we see…he was just being strategic. He always leaves himself room to pivot out of, or into future moves.
The Hawks are on top of the World right now. Everything is pointing up.
