Look, lets be honest. The Lakers are contenders if they are all healthy. They figured out a working formula and proved that by beating good teams. Will they win the championship…no. They are not as good as OKC and probably not the Spurs. But, in the same argument…the Knicks, Boston, Denver, and the other top teams are not as good as OKC. So, are we considering them not contenders as well?
